Well, I finally saw Cars tonight. And I must say that I really liked it. Not as much as the Toy Stories or The Incredibles, but it still made an entertaining piece. I'll admit that I did think it started pretty slowly (aside from the race at the beginning), but once Lightning arrived in Radiator Springs, it was fine. I think that it was more character driven than the other Pixar features, which made it more sentimental, which although a bit cloying in some places, made some places more heartfelt. Oh, and Larry the Cable Guy (Mater) and Tony Shalhoub (Luigi) are up there with Ellen DeGeneres (Dory) and Brad Bird (Edna Mode) in the Pixar Voices Hall of Fame.

I have to admit that my favourite bit was the self-parodies at the end, as I was in stitches laughing. I really think that if they rerelease the Pixar films on DVD, they should expand Toy Car Story, Monster Trucks Inc and the car version of A Bug's Life into shorts as bonus features. The tribute to Joe Ranft as well was much needed as well. I came really close to crying when I saw that pop up at the end. :(

And One Man Band was also very good due to its inventive zaniness and European flair. In my opinion, it was probably the best Pixar short so far.

The first time I saw the trailer for Ratatouille, I thought it would be terrible and that they were running out of ideas. I just saw it again though and it was really good! The CGI Animation is the best I've seen since Monster's Inc. however I'm a little bit lost with what the Plot will be, I guess I'll just have to wait :)

Ratatouille Trailer

Back onto Cars, I thought it was great, but it just wasnt as enjoyable as every other Pixar Film I've seen. I'm just going to say now, that I'm a teenager...so, I grew up with my favourite In-Cinema CGI Movies being Toy Story 2, Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo, I was laughing at every single joke in those three films as a kid.
So I went into this movie with much higher expectations and hoping for more jokes for all age-groups, instead of Fart Jokes from trailers which younger kids seemed to love.
Personifying Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish and creating Superheroes seemed to work a little bit better than the Personification of Cars. It took a big risk in creating a childrens movie running for exactly 2 hours, and the movie was a bit slow in some scenes, but in the end it all paid off.
I really enjoyed this movie and will definately be buying it on DVD, I just didn't enjoy it as much as the other Pixar Classics as I went in with higher expectations. :D
Still, it was another excellent triumph for Disney-Pixar films! :)
