Disney Channel Rewind
Hi, I heard a rumor that Disney Channel will be airing a new two hour block on Sundays only called Disney Channel Rewind starting September 10, 2006 at 1/12c. The block will feature the New Mickey Mouse Club, Kids Incorporated, The Babysitter's Club, and Ocean Girl and it will show bumpers from 1980's Mickey Mouse Hands Interstitials.
I was wondering if anyone else heard these rumors or has any more information on it.

This and wishful thinking is probably what the Disney Channel Rewind rumor is based on.Disney_fanatic wrote:Nickelodeon does the same thing. It's Nick Rewind on Sundays, where they play some of their old cartoons.
It's possible to happen though because a looooooooong time ago in early September, maybe 1999 or 2000, when Nsync, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera were at the peak of their music careers, and Keri Russel was on "Felicity," they had a Mickey Mouse Club and MMC marathon with episodes that had the aforementioned stars. It was called something like "MMC: Before They Were Stars" marathon "MMC: See Them Before They Were Stars" or something witty like that. I remember it aired the day before school started and I watched the whole thing and I think I taped it too. Though as the marathon got to its last few episodes, it was just repeats of the first few episodes. These are probably the same episodes on the MMC DVD.
I wish this was true, but knowing Disney channel, its probably just that - a rumor.
I really am sad to see the state of the disney channel these days. When I first got it ~6 years ago, it was still a premium channel and they had at least two movies on every night, plus Zorro and the original Mickey Mouse Club with Annette et al. Now they air boring stuff, and if you're lucky, one disney-esque movie a week. I don't consider 'Beethoven' a disney movie.
My soon to be 7 years old niece thinks because it AIRS on disney, its a Disney Movie. Nope, its NOT! They air Harry Potter, which doesn't belong on Disney, IMHO.

Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

They did the same thing with Leonardo DiCaprio and Growing Pains. The commercials for the reruns said "See Leo...before he was in THAT BIG BOAT MOVIE."Kram Nebuer wrote:when Nsync, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera were at the peak of their music careers, and Keri Russel was on "Felicity," they had a Mickey Mouse Club and MMC marathon with episodes that had the aforementioned stars. I remember that marathon! I was obsessed with NSYNC at the time and for the next couple of weeks I was obsessed with the show. I even remember wanting to write Disney a letter to get them to play it regularly...Kram Nebuer wrote:It's possible to happen though because a looooooooong time ago in early September, maybe 1999 or 2000, when Nsync, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera were at the peak of their music careers, and Keri Russel was on "Felicity," they had a Mickey Mouse Club and MMC marathon with episodes that had the aforementioned stars. Anyway, this Disney Rewind thing would be great! Seeing old eps of the Mickey Mouse Club and The Babysitters Club would be awesome(even more awesome if they'd include Flash Forward with it). But it's probably just a rumor, unfortunately.

Oh I miss a lot of those shows so much. Although it is wishful thinking it would be nice to see somehting different on Disney Channel onece in a while rather then the same shows. I think thats one of those things that really irritates me so much about the channel. They have so much good material. Showsa and may movies to chosse from and yet. The same stuff is always on. I think somone needs to remind the heads of the Disney Channle that not just children watch this channle. But thats just me.

Well, even if this rumor was true, it wouldn't do too much for me. Those shows aren't really what I miss about the old Disney Channel. They're a few of the old shows that would fit into the new style of the Channel. I miss the classic films and TV shows, and wish they would make a Vault Disney Channel or at least have a chunk of time on Family Channel or Hallmark for Vault Disney type programming. If they would show the 90s MMC, I'm sure it would just be the Britney/Christina episodes, and the ones I used to watch were from before they were added to the cast (used to have a big crush on Brandy Brown. I even met her once, for like 1 minute). I don't even remember that "Ocean Girl" show.
It's true though. They have so much they could air, even stuff that fits in with their current style, that they just don't show. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a hater. Some of their current stuff is good. It's just not the majority (and not the REALLY new stuff, which is mostly pretty bland). But, I'd even be happy if they'd just start running "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: THe TV Show" again, even in the wee hours. Yeah, it's not that old, but I really liked it. Wish it would come to DVD (unedited; the ZOOG airings sometimes were).
