Boy Meets World Season 3... August
I thought that too, but chances are it would have already been announced by now. Besides, August has filled up with TV releases pretty quickly, even if none of them are sitcoms. If this doesn't get pencilled in by the end of the year, I think it's perfectly safe to say sales are an issue and the getting the rest of the series on DVD is uncertain.

That said, there seems to be a rather substantial portion of the population (based on the number of e-mails I get on the subject versus the number of e-mails I get on all subjects and the number of people who visit the site) which is really concerned about this matter. That (and decent/comparable sales numbers on all three seasons) would lead me to believe that the issue really shouldn't be called into question based on sales.

Boy, this really does stink. August is definitley out they're already announcing the fall lineups for DVD's. I guess our next chance for a release would be November in time for the holiday season. For that to happen we'll have to hear something by the end of next month.

Maybe it will come out in November. It could look like this...

Boy Meets World: Season 4
The Golden Girls: Season 6
Home Improvement: Season 5
Scrubs?

Read that as well. Several titles are getting cancelled.

They have already designed coverart for the box, and then just cancel it. Strange, but if its not selling that well its sort of understandable from the companies point of view. However if there is already 3 seasons of a show out, they really need to just finish releasing the seasons.

I don't know if its the same in the US, but over here, the DVD market is saturated. Studios complain that unit growth is slowing year after year after runaway percentage increases in the earlier years, but they ignore the fact that there's virtually nowhere else DVDs can be sold over here. (Instead they complain about pirates, but that's another story).

Increasingly, there's far to many titles released each week, that there's no way on earth even the most dedicated DVD shop can stock them all, let alone any of the smaller shops, or supermarkets who generally stock the top 20-50 titles only.

We're ending up with a two-tier system. More and more, physical shops are having to selectively pick and choose what to sell, and they generally go for the best sellers (or titles they expect to be best sellers) while etailers specialise in having a wide range of stock, but without the intimacy of actual physical browsing and purchasing, and one would expect lower sales. Meaning titles which don't get into the charts are condemned to "lower than expected sales".

This also raises another problem for the manufacturers, because as soon as a title drops out of the chart, most shops bundle up all the unsold discs and send them back to the supplier - which is why the UK has so many offers on DVDs like "3 for £20" or "Buy One, Get One Free" (check this page out for example; note its page 1 of 5!). But this harms sales, because the vast majority of the public are content to wait a couple of months or so and pick up their titles cheaply.

All of this conspires to disproportionatly penalise titles which, while they may be consistant sellers, never reach the top. And with each passing month, the penalty for not being "popular" grows more and more intense.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Dude, did you just quote a website that repeated what we said from a narrower perspective three days after we did? There's a front page, ya know?

Sorry didn't see that :( Otherwise i wouldn't of quoted tvshowsondvd.com. Won't happen again. But seriously people better start buying more of season 3 or any they don't have so 4-7 can get released cause if this means the real end of boy meets world on dvd i would be majorly disappointed and probably just end up selling my season 1 2 3 cause there be no real point in keeping a half incomplete dvd collection.

As most of you realize by now seasons 4-7 of Boy Meets World are not being released on DVD. I know and have seen first hand the loyalty and dedication the fans of Boy Meets World have towards this show. As of July 7th I started a campaign to save the series and have the rest released on DVD. I urge you all to join this group Save BMW (We have 194 members as of this writing). On it along with my friend Jeff, have instructions on what you can do to help tell Disney/Buena Vista that you as fans and paying consumers wnat your Boy Meets World on DVD!

http://groups.myspace.com/SaveBMW

For those wondering, myspace is free to join and only takes a few minutes! Help support the cause!

Do you guys think an online petition would do any good? Someone should start one.

There's already a petition but they don't pay any attention to them. Signing a petition doesn't necessarily mean that the person who signed is also willing to cough up the dough for the DVD.

However, I don't think that the DVD has officially been cancelled. It was a trade magazine that said that, not Buena Vista.

Buena Vista won't ever say it's been cancelled. They will say and have said that it's not on the schedule right now. But that's all you can expect out of them, since plans change and they're always re-evaluating potential release situations.

Still, you're right about petitions. They won't really serve a purpose since A) you'll never get everyone who bought Seasons 1-3 to sign it and B) buying Seasons 1-3 is a far more effective way to express your desire for a Season 4 release. A really effective petition would need a marketing campaign to get the word out and at the end of it, Disney already knows there is some demand for the series. If there's money to be spent, it should be on future seasons, catching up on already-available seasons that haven't yet been purchased, or even buying one or more of those seasons for others to introduce them to the series or something.

All that said, the "BMW" fanbase seems to be pretty vocal and I can't imagine that Disney would lose money from releasing the remaining seasons, especially with most of the work on Season 4 probably already done. They really need to get with the program now, while TV on DVD is still hotly selling and people are clamoring for legal releases.

I have been a Boy Meets World fan for year I am 17. I am quite upset about this news. Although I do believe they will release it, the only question is... When? They are not just going to stop releasing the show at Series 3. I personally own all 3 seasons and have been looking forward to the fourth for some time now.

I cannot wait for an update on the release date for it!

Also does anyone know where I can buy a DVD version of My Date With The President's Daughter. If you have not seen it I highly recommend checking it out. It has got Will Friedle from Boy Meets World in it... Great Movie!

If you like Will Friedle, I recommend watching "Trojan War" Its a really funny movie. It also stars Jennifer Love Hewitt.

I really can't picture them stopping now. I think eventually there will be a 4th season set released. Once Home Improvement & The Golden Girls sets are all released maybe they'll get back to this. I would release it with the 3rd season set of Dinosaurs personally seeing how well the 1st & 2nd season set of Dinosaurs sold.

why is there still any hope for the 4th season? they've officially stated that they will not be releasing any more boy meets world sets due to poor sales. at least not under Buena Vista.
Season 2 sales were only off from the first set by 12%. But Season 3 sales were down 39% from Season Two, and plans for a season-four release were scrapped.

our only hope now is for someone else to get the rights I think.

I really think it was the lack of extras on season 3 that killed it. as we all know, they had next to nothing for extras. which compared to season 1 and 2 is just stupid. ofcorse the sales are going to go down when you slap together a crappy bare bones set. people aren't stupid.

No they haven't.

I seriously doubt that will happen.

Yeah, that was probably a big part of it. I think there's no doubt that Season 4 will come at some point. Disney won't lose money on this set and so they won't hold off on it forever- they're just going to delay it to make room for other, more promising releases in the meantime.

We need everyone to order Seasons 1-3! (Especially Season Three).

Even if you already own seasons 1-3, BUY MORE! They don't necessarily have to be for you. Give them as gifts for birthdays, Christmas, etc. Heck, buy a buttload of 'em and pass them out to trick-or-treaters on Halloween!

No, but seriously folks. We need the best show ever (in my opinion) to be released in its entirety!

I think if Disney/Buena Vista really wants to us fans to stop complaining about this, they should release seasons 4-7 all on the same day (on multiple sets of course). I've seen it done before. Now THAT would be a dream come true!
