No. Shaun Flemming will voice young Simba in The Lion King 1 1/2. Evan Saucedo does the voice for Simba in the "Morning Report." It should be noted that the notes Evan is singing are around C5. That's pretty high. Yes, Evan does have a high pitch voice like some female singers.

1 1/2 I believe is coming out on 2/10/04 and Simba's Pride is rumored to come out late summer/early fall 2004.

On the cover art, I don't like it. It makes the whole movie seem like a joke which I'm hoping it isn't.

I heard that Simba's Pride will be out on August 31, 2004. Maybe The Lion King 1 1/2 will have a trailer for Simba's Pride?

I'm hoping that the whole movie isn't a joke either. I don't mind if the part of the movie is silly or funny, but there should be some serious scenes in the movie. Disney better make the reunion of Simba and Nala romantic and not funny - that is, if they put the reunion in TLK 1 1/5.

From Tomin's diaries we learn that Rafiki teaches Timon the Hakuna Matata philosophy. :) What I want to know is what other roles Rafiki plays, if any.

The winamp skins work with Winamp 5 beta 1 available at: http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail.ph ... 1066336873

I had to to unzip the compressed .wal file into my \winamp\skins directory. Keep the directory structure of the zip file entact when you unzip the .wal file.

Well, actually that whole rafiki thing doesn't make sence at all. Timon met Rafiki in TLK 1 and said "Who's the monkey?" (right before they headed for Pride Rock). So Timon forgets quickly OR the creators thought people wouldn't notice but we now better! And I don't actually see Rafiki saying "Hakuna Matata" because he always seemed such a wise monkey that didn't uhm think that way, no?

You know, Piglet's Big Movie breaks Pooh continuity too.

In Many Adventures, Pooh meets Tigger for the first time after first interacting with Kanga and Roo.

But in Piglet's, the Gang (including Tigger) plot to kidnap Roo when Kanga and Roo first move into the 100 Acre Wood.

As for the Lion King 1.5 plot being revealed, I can not exclusively reveal other Lion King mid-quel plots:

The Lion King 1.75

Nala's Journey from the Pridelands for help. Ends when she finds Simba. [Thanks Loomis]

The Lion King 1.25
Remember that mouse Scar plays with at the start? What wasn't revealed was the mouse was actually an undercover agent of the Rescue Aid Society! He had been assigned to spy on Scar, as rumours of him planning an uprising had reached the society! Now, for the first time ever, the Lion King 1.25 can reveal his daring story and thrilling escape!

The Lion King 1.15
Told as a flashback bookended by scenes from the original number 1 Animated movie. One of the most thrilling moments of the film is expanded as Mufasa falls into the stampede and dies we can all now experience his life story as it flashes before his eyes.

The Lion King 1.05
What happened to Rafiki after Mufasa and Simba apparently died? Now, you can watch him sit in his tree and weep, and occasionally shout out "Why?" as Rafiki grieves - for 10 whole years! Thrilling viewing for all-ages!

That was great, Netty! But be careful - some Disney suit might be reading this!! He'll steal these ideas for sure!

Oh come on, stop ridiculizing Disney. I think this 1 1/2 is a very nice idea, but they should think a little more about the story. I mean, if disney is SO worried about confusing people, they aren't going to do a good job with this movie. I think you should have seen TLK 1 before you see this, and when you saw TLK 1 you will absolutly remember the scene with Rafiki telling Timon, Pumbaa and Nala that the king has returned and Timon says "Who's the monkey?". Won't people even think about that scene when they see Timon and Rafiki BEFORE that moment in 1 1/2? I mean, are non-disney freaks such idiots? :P

Lion King 1 1/2 information

Post by Jens »

Sorry for my second topic about this animated movie title, but the other one was about another subject.

So, what do we already know about this movie? I'll list some stuff that I have seen: (maybe you don't want to read this as it describes the story a bit)

THE STORY

- It shows Timon in his "group" with other meercats. He digs tunnels at first but then he was promoted to hyena lookout.
- Timon leaves the group because he didn't do his job well (hyena lookout). The hyenas (probably the 3 from TLK 1) got in. Timon worries that he won't find a place with no worries (remember, Hakuna Matata?)
- Timon meets Rafiki and he explains Hakuna Matata to Timon, that becomes Timon's new way of life
- Timon meets Pumbaa, it's going to be his best buddy
- Celebration at the Pridelands for the king's son (Simba). Timon discovers that the animals aren't bowing for their king but because of Pumbaa's ill wind.
- Timon and Pumbaa find their home, filled with waterfalls and swimming pools, and of course BUGS! They rescue Simba and become his foster parents.
- Timon has a problem with parenting, he finds it very hard.
- Nala meets Simba again
- Simba heads off to the pridelands to reclaim his kingdom
- Timon and Pumbaa run into Ma and Uncle Max on their way to the pridelands. Starving hyenas chase them and they set up a trap with a hula dance. Ma and uncle max dig a tunnel underneath them and the hyenas were gone. Simba takes his place at pride rock as king, and the circle of life continues

FACTS or RUMOURS

- The movie will be the same style as Simba's Pride, altough the drawings look much nicer and resemble the old characters more.
- Anything to add? Because I just had a black out :P

It looks like the cover that was on the official site has been removed. You can confirm it yourself by going here:

Why would they do this? They're not sure what cover to choose I guess.

Jake Lipson wrote:And what IS with the 1.78 ratio? Disney's CAPS system always uses 1.66. Maybe this is a typo?
According to the updated product page, the aspect ratio is 1.66 : 1, not 1.78 : 1. Here's the link: http://disneyvideos.disney.go.com/movie ... 20503.html

The official website still says 1.78 : 1. I don't think Disney had a chance to update the Shockwave Flash object yet.

Of course, the VHS version will have an aspect ratio of 1.33 : 1.

But Jake, you seem to keep ignoring me when I point this out. Just because 1.66 is the ratio of the equipment, it doesn't mean it's the ratio of choice.

Most modern films are filmed 4:3 - mainly because true anamorphic equipment and lenses still costs a lot more money to manufacture and sell/rent. But it doesn't mean they are meant to be shown 4:3.

If Disney a releasing Lion King 1 1/2 at 1.78:1 it will be a creative decision. Disney have already shown that they have no problem with releasing films 1.66:1.

It's no co-incidence that the two movies released 1.85:1 are both Trousdale/Wise films. They were released 1.85:1 at their request, because they consider 1.85:1 to be the proper aspect ratio.

Disney has changed the cover-art and has not updated their page. Here's the new cover-art I found at DavisDVD.com and dvdanswers.com:

Rafiki is no longer dangling off the edge of Pride Rock.

I kinda like this one better since it is orangy colored, it goes better with the first one and hopefully Simba's Pride will look nice too.

I think the new cover is ugly, but that is only my opinion.

I really like the new cover for the simple reason that it matches The Lion King cover in mood, color and style. I do wish Rafikki was still there, though.

With the orangeish mood for the covers, they can just use the original Simba's Pride artwork over again and I really hope they do that instead of trying to reinvent that cover like they reinvented the original Lion King cover for DVD. But they used the original artwork twice - once for the original 1998 VHS and once for the Limited Issue DVD - and only the "bargin-priced" single-disc Movie Showcase discs reuse VHS art, so they'll probably change it. :(

I do like the new red and orange colored cover too. The color scheme is similar to those of Simba's Pride and The Lion King PE covers.

Here's a still that Christian on Animated-movies.com posted:

"Thinking of Adopting a Lion?"

"A new still from Disney's upcoming The Lion King 1½ has recently been made available and features the ever-lovable duo of Timon and Pumbaa sleeping on the job but otherwise doing their best to raise the lion cub prince Simba..."

"Timon and Pumbaa find parenting a young cub can be exhausting in THE LION KING 1½, available on Disney DVD and Video February 10, 2004."

"© Disney Enterprises, Inc."

At the bottom of this page, there is a link to the full 4.5 MB version. The background looks like it has been painted or drawn, but the characters look ok. The still is odd, yet cute.

I think this will be an okay sequel(Although I've never reallly liked Timon and Pumbaa that much). Anyway, it looks like the animation will be perfectly matched to the sequel(Which was pretty good for a non-theatrical movie). Of course, that doesn't mean I'm going to see it in theaters, I haven't went to theaters since my last birthday, and I'm going again soon to see The Lord of the Rings:Return of the King
