I'm embarassed to admit that I sort of liked them....for a brief period. I'm not big on mid/late '90s nostalgia because the less I remember of middle school, the happier I am.

OMG! I loved the Spice Girls! They were soooooooo cool, my mum got me their video Spice- Volume 1 (Very good behind the scenes video!) and I got their movie when it came to video (not DVD, surprisingly), and I taped their Live In Istanbul concert- BEST CONCERT EVER!- and I taped all of their video clips, and I cut all of the newspaper articles on them out of the paper, and I would listen to all of their songs before I went to sleep. I was their Number 1 Fan.
I've been hoping for a Greatest Hits album and DVD(I would definitely get the DVD) for awhile, but it seems less likely as more of the year passes. The girls said that they'd release the album in July '06, and it definitely won't be released this month. I'm anticipating a Christmas release, but that's if they can get their material together, and can cooperate enough for some publicity stuff. I heard that Victoria (Posh Spice) is recording in Spain, Geri (Ginger Spice) is recording in France, Melanie B (Scary Spice) is recording in Los Angeles, and both Emma (Baby Spice) and Melanie C (Sporty Spice) are recording in London. Hopefully they can do it. I would absolutely love to see the full video clip for 2 Become 1 on the DVD - did anyone else know that it ended with a deer crossing a road? I got that from Wikipedia, so it's probably wrong. I also hope that they can release more of their concerts, etc. to DVD, as I'd love to see Live In Istanbul and Spice- Volume 1 in digital form.

I am having the most psychotic occurence of DEJA VU I've ever had online right now. Everything I'm reading on the 1st page of this post looks exactly like another post I seem to remember reading here nearly a year or more ago. Only I seem to remember replying... But this post seems to have been started recently and my replies aren't here. I don't know what's going on here.

Don't worry, I had Deja Vu as well. About a year ago I posted a thread on the Spice Girls available at this link-http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... pice+girls You posted on it, and we all chatted a bit on it. Anyone wanting Spice Girls chatting from a year ago, then you should read it. It's funny how our forum has changed since then. Lolopimp became a Banned Deadbeat and that Pukahontas only posted 52 times. It seemed that he/she only wanted an avatar, because he/she hasn't posted much after getting one. Also- I love your avatar Lazario. I love Jan from the movie, not the series. She's so funny. MARCIA, MARCIA, MARCIA!

Okay. But I don't remember making the 1 reply on there that I did. I remember saying things that aren't posted there, etc.

Having just seen the Wannabe video again (which you can view Here in low-res form) I'm struck by two things:

1) I don't know if it was all filmed in 1 take or not, and clever trickery was involved. If it was, the Girls deserve a lot of credit (as does the poor camera man!)

2) Victoria doesn't do anything! Considering she became (arguably) the most popular/well-known Spice, it's amazing how sidelined she is in this video. She has no solo lines worth speaking of. No signiture dance moves. No personality :P Nothing.

Of course, some things never change. She's still working on getting a personality.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Well, Victoria is probably the worst (or weakest) singer of the five, and can't seem to make up a dance move other than the "point into the camera"...

Bump. Wondering if there's any new news on the bands reunion or a greatest hits in the works. I really think they should at least release a Greatest Hits CD and DVD, I was watching Live in Istanbul last night and I realised just how well it would sell. And if they did they should put like the 12 or so videos they did, along with a new video (of a new single to promote it) and all the ads, like of Impulse Spice and Pepsi and stuff, I loved them. Any thoughts?

Awww- the Spice Girls! I like the Spice Girls! They were just so fun...I have 4 (I think) VHS tapes of them ("SpiceWorld", "Girl Power", "Live in Istanbul", and live somewhere else), and I've sold a bunch of my CDs, but I have some of their songs on my computer...I should at least download my other favorites (I love their song "Mama"). Wow, they were great. I'm a HUGE fan of late '90s bubblegum pop, so I think they're great! I was (and often still am) a platform shoes wearer...thanks for bringing them back, Spices! "Forever" is a good CD, but only a few tracks stand out ("Goodbye" & "Let Love Lead the Way" are my favorites)...They should release a 2-disc CD of them, with songs from all 3 albums...that'd be swell.

I haven't heard any new news about them (except for Scary's baby...).

But, Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spice_girl ... peculation)

Further scorn on these rumors came in February 2006 from David Sinclair, author of Wannabe: How the Spice Girls Reinvented Pop Fame. Sinclair claims to have close contact with their record label and people affiliated with the group and he states that no plans for either a reunion or greatest hits collection are in the pipelines at the moment. However, Geri Halliwell seemed to hint at possible plans in a March 2006 interview with Hello Magazine when she told fans to "watch this space". In October 2006, during a radio programme to promote her new book, Victoria Beckham seemed to end the speculation and rumours once and for all, saying "I don't think [a Spice Girls reunion] is going to happen. I think we're all just happy doing our own thing now, and obviously having three children, I can't really see myself jumping around on the stage anymore. I don't think we'll be doing a reunion".[17] In March 2007, it was reported that former band member Melanie C did not believe there was going to be a Spice Girls reunion in the foreseeable future.[18]

In early May 2007, rumors once again began to swirl of a possible Christmas reunion special. Mel B, Geri, and Emma were all present with Victoria to celebrate her husband David's 32nd Birthday in London. The Daily Mail reported that Victoria wants to make Los Angeles the new home for the Spice Girls, as she will be moving there fairly soon. In addition a Christmas show would allow time for Victoria to settle into Los Angeles, Geri and Mel B to be with their young children, Emma to give birth in the summer, and possibly persuade Mel C to complete the reunion after her tour. [1] Earlier rumors were reported that the five-some might make an appearance at the Concert for Diana in July 2007, reportedly with letters being sent to the band by the Princes. [2]

I wish this would happen so bad. I LOVED them when I was younger and I've always hoped they would get back together some day.

So, sometimes I spend all day going through my music and looking for music to download. My mp3 player doesn't hold all of my music, so I need to be selective about what I put on there. I'm trying to only put artists that are my favorites that I have practically all the music for (minus the Beatles, since I have a good chunk of their music, but they have too much to put on)...

Anyhoo, this all made me think of the Spice Girls. I've been a fan of theirs since I was 12. Spice World will forever be one of my favorite albums- every track is great. Half of Spice is awesome, and the other half is just alright. Forever is just such a departure from Spice World, but the more I think about it, it isn't such a departure from Spice- the R&B-ness of the 2 albums makes them not as appealing to me.

I've also been thinking, and I hate to say it, but I can't base a band solely on one album- I think that overall, Pussycat Dolls, Danity Kane, and Dream have better music. I have been discovering that Amazon.com (and Walmart.com) have some b-sides and other non-album tracks, and I was listening to clips of some Spice Girls songs, and some of those songs are just blah. Not much equals the greatness that is Spice World.

I know that the Spice Girls came before the newer girl groups, and that their 2nd album is awesome, but I just wish that more of their music was like Spice World- it makes me sad, in a way, that I think this, because they were one of my favorite bands as a tween. And I still enjoy them and like reading about what they're doing. I figured that I would share my thoughts.

I wonder how their sound would've evolved if Geri hadn't left the group. I was listening to some clips from Forever, since I sold it a while ago, and there really are only a few songs that I care about from it (pretty much all ballads)...I read that I wrote that it's not a bad album, and it's definitely not, but it's not the Spice Girls sound that I love so much...

Do any of you wish that they had stayed more bubblegummy in their sound? Or do you embrace the R&B-ness of some of their music?

I wish they had stayed more bubble-gummy in their sounds. It just appeals more to me than their ballads, and slow songs.
