I'm not really sure yet. Hollywood Reporter has that pic of the new logo. I'm not really sure if they have the video clip or maybe an MP3 clip of the new logo for download. But don't worry, I want to see the new logo if my brother and I are going out to the movies this week to see POTC: DMC.Jeremy wrote:So is this logo available to be seen somewhere in the net?
It's so amazing I can't wait to see it when POTC:DMC comes to DVD.

Speaking of logos, I just came across my old vintage Disney record collection and I found something interesting, the purple label for the story of "Sleeping Beauty" album. If you look carefully, the label had a two castle design from left to right with the Disneyland logo around the label. Other Disneyland albums including soundtrack and children's LP's had the yellow label. The castle design (as both shown here) was an earlier prototype version for the Walt Disney Pictures logo. It was later made in 1985 where the striped castle with an arch was introduced. If anybody seen the movie POTC: DMC, the new logo was introduced features the Cinderella castle. This new logo is still using it for future films like "Meet the Robinsons", "Santa Clause 3" and the upcoming direct-to-video film "Tinkerbell" with Brittany Murphy as the voice of the title role where she speaks for the first time. Here is a pic of the old label.

Finally saw DMC last night. The movie was absolutely terrible, I'm wanting Disney to give me two and a half hours of my life back. But the new logo was pretty nice. How pathetic is it when the best thing about a 150 minute movie is the opening 30 second logo. I just really miss the old blue. But this can grow on me, it's not like Paramount where they took a great logo and replaced it with a piece of garbage, but it actually look really nice.

I want to see that movie tomorrow night, but I would like to see the new logo. The new logo is not bad, but yes, it has a Cinderella's castle on it the one that both Escapay and I posted that pic of a better one. On your previous post Buzz, the pics you made was fake. It doesn't really fit onto that logo, but it's not right. I know you missed the old blue one, but it still remains on the "The Little Mermaid" Platinum Edition DVD which will be coming out this fall. I have the original VHS copy of "The Little Mermaid" that has the original blue logo. But on the DVD, I don't see any changes. I'm looking forward to see it tomorrow night, POTC: DMC is going to be a great movie than the "Curse of the Black Pearl".Buzz Lightyear wrote:Finally saw DMC last night. I just came back from the Palisade Mall after I saw the movie POTC: DMC and I saw the new Walt Disney Pictures logo for tthe first time on the big screen. The logo music was quite different using the extended version of "When You Wish Upon a Star" through the entire music. In addition to the new logo it has fireworks. Thank goodness for that newly designed one, I love fireworks added to the logo including the "Walt Disney Pictures" title in water. I should give this new logo a big thumbs up.
This logo was followed by the Jerry Bruckeheimer logo. Before the feature, I saw the trailer for "Invincible", it has the orange logo, but it dies off quickly. I hope this new logo should be staying forever. "Invincible" is the next film to have the new logo attched to it in addition to "Dead Man's Chest". As I said, I've seen the new logo, but I should give credit for that one. Thanks for the heads up! I missed the old blue logo, but it still being shown on all previous Disney films on such channels like HBO, Cinemax, Encore, Starz and a bunch of other cable channels including local stations like WPIX-TV. I've never seen the original blue logo open for "Jungle 2 Jungle", that one was being shown on my local NYC affiliate in my area as of "Meet the Deedles". They still using that original WDP logo.
I've seen it, but I would like to see that new logo again if POTC: DMC will be out on DVD soon, I should replay it over and over and over again until I die. The new logo will be seen in upcoming films like "Santa Clause 3", "Tinkerbell", a straight-to-video movie and a bunch more.
If this new logo should be on the new fall lineup, it will still be "Walt Disney Television" where the new logo was left off since its logo debut. I hope I should see more.
By the way, the new logo was fabulous and did an excellent job! Kudos to Disney.

My big worry is this new logo looks to complicated. Simpler is often better. How can the alter the studio logo when it is so "busy"?
I want altered studio logos.

This is my first post in around two and a half weeks (holiday left me offline), and as I came back from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (which I loved), what better to comment on than the new Walt Disney Pictures logo?
I have to admit that I find it a bit overdone. I do feel that the old Walt Disney Pictures logo needed to go (I don't hate it at all, but it's been in circulation for so long in its particular state that a change is nice), yet I'm not sure if they've done it right. It seems like they put a bit too much into it, shoving in as much information as they could into one twenty second introduction to the point where it looked a bit silly (I heard some people in the packed screening room giggling after the logo ended). I guess it is still nice, and I think that it's okay for just one or two films, yet I'm not sure if it's going to be all that great if used for every single Disney film in the near future. Perhaps Disney should restrict it just for "event" films.

I completely LOVED this new logo. It made me want to hop on a plane right after Pirates of the Caribbean and head to Disneyworld. Seeing the logo animated and flying like that on a HUGE screen (I went to a big screen theatre to see Pirates), kind of reminded me of the "Soarin'" ride which recently was added to Disney World.
I was taken aback and suprised when it first came on, because I forgot that it was going to be on Pirates, but my sister and I (both former employees of Disney World) just kind took a breath and smiled, you know? Ooooohhh, Mike Gabriel (who worked on Pocahontas, Oliver and Company, The Black Cauldron, The Rescuers Down Under, and The Great Mouse Detective) YOU ROCK!!!! Thanks for the awesome new logo!!

Hi! I'm baaaaaaaaaaack!
(I've been hardly posting on UD lately).
I saw Dead Man's Chest yesterday. I loved the new logo.
However, I couldn't fully appreciate it, because in the theatre where I saw the movie, the picture was rather dark. Even during the movie, it felt a bit claustrophobic.
As a consequence, the new logo dodn't look bright and vibrant, but rather dull and muted.
In fact when the words "Walt Disney" appeared, instead of looking silvery white, the looked silvery dark grey.
When can I get to see it again?

By the way. We have to admit that Disney's creating such an intricate logo is like a double-edged sword. As 2099net said, now it will be difficult to customize. So I don't think we will get surprise logos like the ones in Chicken Little, Home on the Range, or Atlantis.

Yep! Just like the old "Disney Sunday Movie" and "The Magical World of Disney" had the same silverish "Disney" logo. That was a long time agoJulian Carter wrote:In fact when the words "Walt Disney" appeared, instead of looking silvery white, the looked silvery dark grey.
Don't forget, "My Favorite Martian", the two "Inspector Gadget" films, "Mulan 2", "Pooh's Heffalump Movie" and "Bambi 2". Those are special openings. "Bambi 2" was the last film to have the original 1985 blue logo.Julian Carter wrote:By the way. We have to admit that Disney's creating such an intricate logo is like a double-edged sword. That's not true. Behind that castle in the logo was moving grey sky in the winter. Not that usual and original blue and white logo.musicradio77 wrote:"Bambi 2" was the last film to have the original 1985 blue logo.Julian Carter wrote:As 2099net said, now it will be difficult to customize. And I have to ask: why can't they customize the new logo? They have customized other companies' logos as well although they are quite detailed logos, too. For example WB, 20'th Century Fox and some others. I can't see why Disney should be exception.

They could do it, but since the new logo is far more intricate than the last one, it will be harder and therefore they won't appear as much as they did with the last one.Jeremy wrote:And I have to ask: why can't they customize the new logo? I'm counting the animated classics.
The Black Cauldron (1985): Original logo.
The Great Mouse Detective (1986): Havn't seen this movie yet.
Oliver and Company (1988): Like the original, except for the score.
The Little Mermaid (1989): Original logo.
Rescuers Down Under (1990): I've forgotten.
Beauty and the Beast (1991): Original logo.
Aladdin (1992): Original logo.
The Lion King (1994): Like the original, except for the score.
Pocahontas (1995): Like the original, except for the score.
Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996): Like the original, except for the score.
Hercules (1997): Original logo.
Mulan (1998): Like the original, except for the score.
Tarzan (1999): Starts out as the normal logo, but when "Walt Disney" appears, the background changes, and it doesn't have the original score.
Fantasia 2000: Same as Tarzan.
Emperor's New Groove (2000): Almost like the original, with the exception of the musical score.
Atlantis (2001): Customized to look rusty and with sea reflections.
Lilo and Stitch (2002): Customized. Blue castle with black background, and a green, bleeping shooting star.
Treasure Planet (2002): Almost like the originaL, but with no music and it doesn't start from the beginning. The logo commences from the moment "Walt Disney" appears, and not from forming the pale blue fairy castle.
Brother Bear (2003): Update of logo. Black and orange.
Home on the Range (2004): Customized. Beige and brown, and branded on the background with a red hot poker.
Chicken Little (2005): CGI customized version of the original, made to look like a bird house.
So I'd say the last time we have seen the original logo intact, including score, on an animated classic, has been on Hercules.
