Adam Adamant Lives!
Ah, the swinging sixties. I wonderful time to be alive. Sometimes I wish I was alive in the sixties.
The Avengers was a prime time hit on UK commercial television, and seeking to emulate it's success, the BBC turned to
Doctor Who creator Sydney Newman and Verity Lambert, it's first producer. They created Adam Adamant Lives! The story of a victorian adventurer frozen in ice, and revived in the 60's for new far-out adventures. The 60's had never been fabber!
This 5 disc set contains all the existing episodes - 17 of them - with 12 sadly lost by the BBC. Thankfully the 1st episode still exists, and the other missing 12 are presented as PDF scripts, as well as an Adam Adamant annual and some comic strips from TV Comic. Other extras include an 52 minute documentary presented by Mark Gatiss, 2 commentary tracks, a feature on Adam's car, some soundtrack snippits from missing episodes, some outtakes, and a 13 minute picture gallery. Finally a comprehensive 64 page book on the history and making of the series is included.
