This is very cool. I just read on my local news website that a local author has a role in CARS! I'm very proud to have a fellow Tulsan in a movie that is made by Pixar!

Tulsa Author Has A Role In A New Disney-Pixar Movie
KOTV - 5/15/2006 2:28 PM - Updated: 5/15/2006 5:39 PM
You may recognize a familiar voice and you may see some recognizable sights if you go to the New Disney-Pixar animated movie "Cars."

News on 6 anchor Craig Day says the movie is out in a few weeks and a Tulsan has a role in the film as the voice of one of the cars. “Oh yeah. The rookie sensation came into the season unknown, but everyone knows him now."

When the new Disney-Pixar movie Cars speeds into theaters across the country June 9th, listen closely and you may recognize a Tulsa voice. "Dude, are you crying. No. I'm happy." Michael Wallis is happy about his role as one of the voices in the movie. "I am the voice of the Sheriff of Radiator Springs, this composite mythical town on Route 66 in the scene of most of the action in the film Cars."

The sheriff car is the one just to the right of the tow truck in the middle. "The Sheriff of Radiator Springs is a 1949 Mercury. A lot of people say it kind of looks like me. This used to be black mustache of mine kind of resembles the grill of that mercury."

Wallis is most known as an author and an expert on Route 66, which is the setting for most of the movie. He was hired as a Route 66 consultant, but after hearing his voice, the producers asked him to be voice talent, along with actors like Owen Wilson, Paul Newman and Larry the Cable Guy.

“You're in Radiator Springs, the cutest little town in Carburetor County."

"This was a tremendous opportunity. Because I'm telling you this, the Pixar crew, the Disney folks are the most creative bunch I've ever worked with."

Wallis hopes to work with Pixar again in the future. "I'm happy." But for now, he's just happy and excited fans of all ages will see the movie soon. "I am just ecstatic about the final product."

Wallis and his wife Suzanne Fitzgerald Wallis also have a new book out that detail the art work and making of the movie. The book is called The Art of Cars.

About the die-cast cars for Cars...they're ALL sold out at my local Target and Toys R Us. I asked a Target employee and said they're flying off shelves; within one hour or so after they put it up, they're gone. I'm glad that this is happening but I can never manage to find the rare one (Stanley & Red) nor buy any others now because they're always gone. Luckily I got McQueen and Mater two weeks ago when they still had them at Toys R Us. Is this the situation for anyone else with all of them being sold out?

I don't know, the more I see this, the worse it looks. The promos make me want to miss it!

The only reason I'm going to see it is because of their stellar track record.

No problem Luke, thanks for maintaining such a great site to post on.

I could gather all the links, when they've finished putting all the podcasts on the server, in a single post. I think there's about 16 altogether.

Thanks a lot for the new links, Hogi Bear! I've been saving all of these, though I've only had time to watch a few. No title for #12? Did you come up with these titles, by the way, or are they the official names?

Sorry, I forgot to post it's name  (No. 12 being Sonoma or Hot Laps in Sonoma).

No, these are the official names from what I can tell. I think what happens is Disney sends comingsoon.net the links or comingsoon.net gets them off a page on Disney's website (they use to be on Disney's tralier page, when comingsoon.net got the links, but now they have the older trailers more than often). But anyway, they're the names which comingsoon.net have given them and they're the same on Disney's live feed:
http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/car ... odcast.xml

Though, if you try downloading comingsoon.net's links you'll get a 1 KB Bounce.aspx, all these trailers/podcasts/music videos/clips are off servers that are owned by a company called VitalStream, which does Disney's video and website media et cetera.

Sorry, a long answer for a simple question.

Well here's the current cover for Cars which I hope changes, but maybe it'll look better blown up:
Image

The cover would look better if they shift Lightning's eyes to look like he's focused on the race.

Can anyone tell what's the car in the top right corner?

Thanks for the bump! I assume that is a prevue of the DVD cover? If so, its kind of garish! Would prefer to see a more spacious scene - scenery perhaps background of the town or of the landscape - this is too busy.

Thanks for posting the link to the posters Madonna's.
