Meeting characters

Post by crunkcourt »

I just spent this last weekend in WDW and had an absolutely amazing time. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised by a character meet and greet I did. I was literally the only person in line at about 4 or 5 in the afternoon to meet Goofy, Chip and Dale and Snow White. I got to spend about 10 minutes with them talking taking pictures, getting autographs all that jazz. The two other lines were packed for Minnie and Pluto, and some of the other princesses. I was also surprised at how many more people there were trying to meet Captain Hook than Peter Pan and Wendy. So it is possible to meet characters, and spend quality time with them without waiting in ridiculous lines, or paying a ton of money for character meals.

That's awesome! What part of the parks did you do this at? I know Hook, Pan, and Wendy are at Adventureland, but where did u find the short lines?

I've only seen the characters around Mainstreet and the Hub and the lines are always incredibly long except for the ones the kiddies don't recognize like the Queen of Hearts, Governor Ratcliffe (nobody knew he was until the CM with him said he was from Pocahontas), Robin Hood, Friar Tuck, and others.

Oh, and we have a lot of threads on characters. This one seems to be a more general one:

At DisneyLand I saw Characters all over the Park. Quite a few of them at the Main Gate Entrance(Alice, Queen of Hearts,White Rabbit,Tweedle Dee and Dum, Mad Hatter, Mulan,Pocahantas, Jasmine, Belle). On Main Street(Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Pinochio, Gepetto, Chip, Dale, Hook, and a few others). In Toon Town (Mickey, Pluto, Goofy, Donald, Chip, Ugly Duckling fron Chicken Little) , In FantasyLand( Buzz Lightyear, Ariel) Critter Country(Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Eyore), Walking Around the park I also Met The Evil Queen(Snow White and Belle) walking around the castle by Ariel's Grotto and saw a one of the prince's and a few others around the park. It is not like it was in the 70's where you were lucky if you saw 1 or 2 of them. In Mickey's Toon Town Dale even was riding on the Gadget Roller Coaster, He rode 5 or 6 times with his last ride in the car in front of me.

Cool! It's Mickey in his 50th Anniversary/Happiest Homecoming suit! Awesome pics, memnv! The characters are basically the same on Main Street in Magic Kingdom. I've only seen the Snow Queen at MGM with Cruella De Vil, but that's it. I haven't seen any princes tho besides parades. Though one interesting group was Mary Poppins, Bert in their Jolly Holiday outfits taking a stroll through Fantasyland with Aurora. They stopped behind the crowd that was watching Merlin's show and he waved to them. That was pretty cool.

Also, congratulations on you and your wife's accomplishments! :thumb:

I saw Mary Poppins and Bert wandering around I don't remember where though. I went to MGM back in Jan 2002 and I saw Cruella De Ville wandering around there too, Don't remember if I saw her at DL. I also saw Buzz and Woody, Hercules,Tigger, and a few others in the area around the big Wizard hat. At California Adventure the only characters I saw roaming that I remember are Mulan and Mushu. I saw Flick at some little show in his area and the charaters in the Dance Party but that is all I remember

Check out these rare "once-in-a-lifetime" characters. They will never be seen again.

I can't believe how lucky you were crunkcourt. I was in Disneyworld early July and the only character I could pull myself together to meet was Ariel. I mean, even the line to meeting Tweedledee and Tweedledum was immensely long! Even though I saw quite a bi of characters, we just settled for taking pictures of them from a distance. Way easier and time-saving ;)

Amazing shots of the once-a-lifetime characters!
