Dead Man's Chest DVD: What do you want on it?

Post by lord-of-sith »

What do you want (or expect to find) on the DVD of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest?

I hope to find another commentary by the writers, and hopefully *crosses fingers* another Keira Knightley/Jack Davenport commentary. I also hope there is another doc similar to the "Epic at Sea" doc.

I want the same excellent video and sound transfer, preferably a DTS soundtrack, and the commentaries as before, and a really good documentary about the making of this movie, not just a 10 minute HBO first look.

And how about a decent teaser for number III while we are at it.

Let's see a long trailer of POTC: AWE and at least a 10 minutes of the beginning of POTC: AWE on the POTC: DMC 2 Disc DVD.

Wait a minute I want a 3 Disc of POTC: DMC. LOL
Also want tons of extras and a slipcover that opens like a book.

Getting all this Disney.

A crew commentary and a johnny/orlando/keira commentary. At least one with Johnny that would be really great.

I'd like for them to make it as similar to the original's DVD in quality and style as they can. Here's what I'd like to see:

* Audio Commentary with Gore Verbinski, Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom, and Jack Davenport. The original DVD's commentary with Gore and Johnny was kind of tedious, and the one with Jack and Keira was hilarious but short. Putting all of these people in the same room along with Orlando could make for a very interesting track.

* Audio Commentary with Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio
* "Making of" Documentary running at least 30 minutes long, preferrably longer
* Deleted and Extended Scenes
* Blooper Reel
* Fly on the Set Reels
* Production Diaries
* Progression Reel
* Galleries featuring concept art, costume and make-up tests, production photos, and publicity materials
* Teaser and Theatrical Trailers (I'm not holding my breath)
* Teaser trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean 3 (pretty much guaranteed)

I would like to see "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" on DVD in a few months, but If I could get it, I would like to see the new Walt Disney Pictures logo over and over and over again.

Keep in mind, there a lots of bootleggers in the streets that they are selling illegal copies of "PotC: Dead Man's Chest" with the new WDP logo as well as on P2P file sharing programs like Limewire, Kazaa, Morpheous, Bearshare, iMesh and others. Please be careful with these and don't buy it or download it, they are illegal and it will get into trouble. Stay away from illegal copies!

Maybe we should wait before the real DVD comes out.

I don't think we have a choice.

I know, I would like to see audio commentaries, trailers, documentries and all other stuff. That's where I would like to see on DVD including the new trailer for "Pirates of the Caribbean: World's End". That's the film I would like to see it next year.

As others have already stated, I think it's pretty obvious that the Dead Man's Chest DVD should -- and will -- match the first one in terms of presentation and content. If so, this means there will be no pan and scan version of it produced at all, because the original DVD was widescreen only and Disney has now discontinued VHS. So, hurrah for that! And as far as what I'd like to see included, I'll say PLEASE include the trailers this time, but I've got them saved on my hard drive in case they don't show up, as I fear.

As for the logo, like I said in the logo thread, I really wish Disney would make that clip available for download as a QuickTime file so we can obsess over it. Alas, I guess not.

Er. . . besides what was said here, I want a new cut of the first film with most of the deleted scenes thrown back in.

Um. . . yeah. . .

I would love a good piece of the POTC ride and perhaps that video that was posted of Johnny Depp riding the ride and seeing his animatronic. I thought that was hilarious.

To respond to Jake's comment on the widescreen only thing, I think we'd have no other choice. Having seen the film four times as of Monday (would have seen it five time by now but last minute family issues have prevented that), it would have to be only widescreen, if it weren't it would be the worst hack job of a film ever (even though all full screens are hack jobs). Heck, even the COTBP VHS was in Widescreen, 1.85:1, not OAR, but still widescreen.

Also, Aaron's comment on the Pirates supporting anti-piracy could be the best thing they could put on the disc, even more than DMC's trailer and an AWE preview. :D While we're on the subject of an AWE preview, they won't put a three minute trailer of it on DMC's DVD, let alone the first ten minutes of it.

Lastly: NO SLIPCOVER FOR THIS UNLESS IT IS LIKE NARNIA'S 2-DISC SLIPCOVER PLEASE. Most slipcovers are mostly pointless, but that one was kickass.

Argh!
