Disney shorts

Post by Rumpelstiltskin »

Is there any list over the shorts produced by Disney? All the features is OK, so is Silly Symphonies. But what about the rest? We have the Goofy cartoons, Donald Cartoons, Mickey Cartoons and Ploto cartoons. Then the Walt Disney Specials ("Silly Symphonies that isn't Silly Symphonies"). Any others? There are also some that are longer than the usual cartoon, but shorter than a feature, like Donald in Mathmagic Land, which is almost 30 minutes. Scrooge McDuck and Money is 16 minutes according to imdb. The shorts who are included in the package films should perhaps be included too?

Second; what about the animated series? There is a list of the animated series that was shown on The Disney Afternoon, but does it really include all the series?

You've already sent me the lists, remember, Mr. Toad? Thanks for those. Good news is that pages of shorts ARE coming soon. A listing unlike any others on UD, though, is coming first, thanks to Aaron.

In the meantime, don't forget smirnoffski's helpful animated characters filmographies thread: http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... php?t=3795

Thanks for reply and link.

Luke: If the lists are going to be placed on UD, will there be some information added to them? Like if it is a theatrical release, made for television or maybe even specially made for VHS/DVD, and in what way the shorts are special in case they are (like The Old Mill and the multiplane camera)?

Rumplestilskin - Dont know what modifications the list will have but the original list included all the DVD appearances of the shorts.

The list is also split into two seperate ones theatrical and non-theatrical. The Non-theatrical list has a description of why it was made - educational, TV, Armed Forces.

The theatrical list is split by title card - ie Mickey Mouse, Silly Symphony.

If you would like the excel list please email me.

I've made "my own official list" of "Classic Theatrical Disney Animated Shorts" based on the following criteria:

- "Classic period": Starting with sound and Mickey Mouse in 1928, ending in 1956 when Disney's shorts department was closed down.

- Animated.

- "Theatrical" - not including various sponsored, public-service type of shorts.

- Typical "7 minutes" running time (min 5-6, max about 10).

This amounts to 435 shorts; 75 Silly Symphonies in a separate section and 360 others (MM, DD, Goofy, Pluto and a few more).

I appreciate your offer, but if they are going to make a list in here in not too long, I can wait a little longer. Either way, it is impressing how some individuals are able to dig up all the titles. Both the features and the shorts can probably be grouped in many different categories, depending on the focus.
