I may sound spoiled for saying this, but I was hoping for a making-of that's longer than 45 minutes. Considering Aladdin's making-of got a running time of around two hours, and considering Mermaid has many more stories behind it (in my opinion), I'm a little disappointed with the short (by comparison) running time.

In Mermaid's defense, 45 is about the average length for the Platinum documentaries, Aladdin included. Notice that with Aladdin's DVD, if you choose to watch the main featurettes without the minor ones, the documentary is about 45 minutes long. The entire Diamond in the Rough feature runs an hour and 50 minutes because they embedded the self-containing featurettes into the main documentary for convenience. Notice that with Mermaid's Backstage Disney section, we've got an isolated featurette about the film's effects animation. I suspect there'll be a few more featurettes like that that aren't part of "Treasures Untold." In other words, when all is said in done, everything in Mermaid's Backstage Disney section should total about two hours, just like Aladdin.

Also... I was watching The Little Mermaid today and had a "what if" thought... what if Vanessa (Ursula) had actually succeeded and married Eric... was she planning to actually stay married to him or just killed him or just dissapeared back into the ocean...??

Two hours would be fantastic! Yeah, I've also thought that. Honestly, I would kill myself if Mermaid wouldn't get too much it deserves.

I think it's odd that the set doesn't have a 'Music and More'' section? Afterall this is the first of the new musicals disney did... Hope they wil include it the main menu for the 2nd disc is a bid empty... so there is room for "Music and More" section...

I was just watching the film on VHS (1990 version) and it got me so excited, I can't wait. I am so excited that I'm afraid, to tell you the truth. I'm afraid of being disappointed after 6 or 7 years of enormous anticipation for this release. I did not like the video restoration that was done to "Bambi", so I'm kinda worried but hey, I'll have to wait, I guess 'till October to find out.

I also didn't like the restoration that was done on Bambi because the film looks unrestored on some parts and completely restored on others, but hey this is a very old film and TLM is kinda new so don't be too worried because it's more easy to restore a new film than an old one because for example bambi's reel was very damaged but TLM's reel must be in good condition

Yeah I guess you're right... Can't compare a 60+ year-old film with a 16 year-old one...

Here's the British artwork, which I think displays better what we'll actually have on the cover in the US (since, appart from the Ultimate Disney cover art, all promotional artworks shown for the US release are slighty different in a bad way...)

No problem Disneykid! I cannot wait for this DVD, I'm sure that this DVD, the Snow White DVD, and the Beauty and the Beast DVD were and are the most anticipated DVDs that Disney has brought us.
I am super happy about the audio commentary, but what I want more is 2 audio commentaries. One from the directors & producer, and another from the supervising animators (i.e. Glen Keane, Andreas Deja etc.). This would probably make me say: "I'm dreaming. I know that I am dreaming!!!"

I'm surprised that they haven't put it under that new "Bonus Shorts" easyfind icon that they've been using lately, like on Dumbo's new DVD. Surly it would fit better there instead of putting it in "Backstage Disney", since it has nothing to do with the film's production.

This is what I was thinking! That it wouldn't be in the "BackStage Disney" because there is no relation to the film, besides the "The Little" in each titles.

This is better than the US one - BUT only 'til all the HIDEOUS rating logos are slapped on the final British release...
Am I the only one who thinks the cover is too crowded and confusing? I mean the sun shines one way, the sea splashes in diffirent directions, The wind blows in diffirent directions, there is a light glaze behind Sebastian, and all those caracters squeesed in to that little cover... I dont think Ariel looks all saine either... Look at her eyes... lol
I dont think the cover is ugly, I just dont think it matches the other PE's so far they have all looked amazing IMO... Hope Disney will make some changes to the final cover... Although isn't that a bit late now?
