With my Reward Zone card in hand, I went shopping this morning at Best Buy and picked up:

Find Me Guilty - with Vin Diesel (with a full head of hair and about 30 added pounds), Peter Dinklage, and Annabella Sciorra. Good courtroom comedy. Probably the best since "My Friend Vinny" and just as funny.

Yellowbeard - Featuring an all-star cast headed by Graham Chapman, Eric Idle, John Cleese, Marty Feldman, Madeline Kahn, Peter Boyle, and Cheech and Chong. Don't blink or you will miss a funny cameo from David Bowie.

Private Resort - Johnny Depp and Rob Morrow star as two horny teenage boys who go to a posh Florida resort for some sun and fun. Hector Elizondo is very funny as a would-be jewel thief. Lots of fun, sun, surf, and bare boobies.

Having plans to see Superman Returns on Sunday, and not having seen the original two movies - I set out to find them on DVD last night.

Went to Wal-Mart first, and was disappointed to not see them anywhere. Finally, I found them on a back display - at the shockingly low price of $5.88 a piece! Bargain!

So now the plan is to watch them tonight. I can't wait!

An excellent choice, but I hope you have seen this film before, as it is not your typical horror movie, and stands out from your other picks (in fact, it could be argued its not a horror movie at all).

No, I haven't seen this film before. But I've heard everyone who says they've seen it say it's not like a horror movie, so I'm fully prepared. I'm buying it more for the fairy tale element - I also own Who Slew Auntie Roo? (which is based on Hansel & Gretel), Hansel & Gretel (the straight-to-video 1987 version with David Warner, who I understand is also in Company of Wolves), and Freeway (also based on Little Red Riding Hood).

I'm not sure it's actually that fairy-tale like. It doesn't really have a single, liner narrative, its almost like an anthology film, but its not even one of them.

It's certainly is fantastical, especially in it's setting (the visuals are incredible). It's really a metaphor for growing up and the emergence of sexuality. This may be going back to the roots of fairytales, but it's unlike any fairytales commonly told today. The wolves are symbolic of the sexual desires of men, there's lots of dialogue to this effect, the inference is that all men are basically beasts inside - warnings which confuse the young "red riding hood" type adolecent girl who is starting to experience sexual desire. But while it is ultimately about sex, no sex is included - so its not your typical horror movie at all.

It was sold as a horror movie to the US, and so flopped big time. A shame, as it's more of an art-house type of film. It's a unique film, which can't really be compared to anything else. I hope you like it. (It does have some good, old fashioned, animatronic and make-up transformation effects)

My mother got me three movies and all three seemed to be comedy. I already know Rob Schneider's "The Animal" but I've never seen these two. These DVDs are bought from Wal-Mart.

Creepshow - $5.99 Leslie Nielson stars in that movie. 8)
The Animal - $5.99
Bushwhack - $5.99

All in widescreen format. :P
