The 60th Annual Tony Awards

Post by goofy108 »

Is anyone here planning on watching the Tony Awards?

I'm so excited to see the ceremony. Within this last year I have started listening to many musicals and I try to update myself with information on what is happening on Broadway. This will be my first Tony-watching experience and I can't wait!

Although Jersey Boys has been the favorite pick for Best Musical I'm still rooting for The Drowsy Chaperone. I think with it being an original musical it has a big chance in taking home many awards Sunday night. I think Sweeney Todd will also be a big winner. Best Musical Revival, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Actress are all possibilities. The Color Purple has 10 Nominations and a good chance at taking home many awards, also.

Who do you think will take home a Tony?

Wow! What a night. The Tony Awards are, without a doubt, my favorite telecast of any ceremony -- they're so much fun.

I am ecstatic for Jersey Boys. Each and every trophy taken home by that cast is so well-deserved, I cannot even say. I was a bit taken a-back when LaChanze won "Leading Actress in a Musical" over my favorite Patti LuPone (Come on now. She played a pie-making cannibalistic tuba player. Canniballistic! The tuba!!) yet from what I saw of The Color Purple, it was well-deserved.

The same goes for The Pajama Game taking "Revival of a Musical" from Sweeney Todd -- that was unexpected. Oh well, at least John Doyle was noticed.
