Alice In Wonderland SE, possible special features?

Post by Matty-Mouse »

Now I know that the Special Edition of Alice In Wonderland set for January is still just a rumour (I reallllllllllllllllly hope it isn't) but I was wondering what other Special features from the Laserdisc boxset they could put into a 2-disc set.

I know there was a better gallery and the TV episode "One Hour In Wonderland" but what else?

You know, wasn't it not too long ago when Disney announced that they would be going to single-disc releases in the near future to keep their costs down?

Either: a. Eisner changed his mind, or b. All of these impending two-disc release rumors are exactly that... rumors.

well, I heard that there was some non-showed part of the film or something that was cut out. I'm not sure. Probably it was from another movie, but I'm not sure. So, I doubt that it is true, since I myself am not too sure.

They probably would have ton's of commentary (i've never seen the laserdisc, so I couldn't tell.) Maybe the making of? I dunno

sorry

I think it's more likely to be a C) somewhere in between. The supposed Eisner edict called for new theatrical releases to only receive a loaded 1-disc rather than the 2-disc Collector's Set. Why just those? I have no idea.

They feel that The Love Bug is worthy of a deluxe 2-disc set and then they print about 12 copies of it, but something like Lilo & Stitch isn't worth the cost of doing a 2-disc set? But now it is?

I HOPE that these rumored releases are genuine and 2-disc sets, but I'm remaining skeptical. It seems likely that they're re-evaluating things, and as long as they're re-evaluating, I think they should re-evaluate their Movie Showcase line into something that doesn't suck.

The LD Archive Edition had the following:

Alice In Wonderland
Television special "One Hour in Wonderland"; excerpts from specials aired on the Ford Television Show and the Fred Waring Television Show; Radio Show; Preliminary designs and deleted concepts (including 2 complete storyboard presentations of earlier film treatments with reconstructed soundtracks); The history of the original story; Theatrical trailers; Television spots; Publicity materials; characters designs.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

I seriously hope and pray that Alice will indeed become a 2-disc SE in January as the rumors indicate. Didn't the LD have an isolated score track? An LD review of it said it did. To me, this would be the perfect Alice DVD:

* Audio Commentary hosted by Roy Disney (much like the Peter Pan disc)
* Isolated Score Track (would never happen, I know)
* Brand-new "Making of" featurette
* One Hour in Wonderland Television Special
* Operation: Wonderland promotional featurette
* The history of the novel and Lewis Carroll
* A conversation with Kathryn Beaumont
* Disney Legends: Kathryn Beaumont clip that aired on Disney
* Footage from various Disney conventions showcasing the animators discussing Alice characters
* Raw live action reference footage
* Deleted concepts (including the two from the LD as well as a special reconstruction of the "Jabberwocky" scene as suggested by Jim Hill)
* Alice in Wonderland DVD Storybook
* Alice in Wonderland Trivia Game
* "All in the Golden Afternoon" Sing-Along
* "The Unbirthday Song" Sing-Along
* Virtual Galleries that contain: Character Designs, Backgrounds, Promotional Stills, Posters, and more
* Radio Broadcasts
* Clips from Television Specials
* Theatrical Trailers (original and re-issues) and TV Spots

If the SE had all of that, I'd be the happiest person in the universe. Here's hoping that it at least has HALF of that.

If even half of Disneykid's wishlist were to make it onto a SE, I'd pick it up in a split second. I already own the current copy which is one of my favourite Disney films (I say that about all of them, but this really is. Actually, I've really always loved the 'Alice' story, and the fact that there is a Disney version makes it all the better).

I already own the R4 version (which is identical to the US version, although it misses out on the 'Sing along', Storybook & trailer, but gains a Mickey short called 'Thru the Mirror', which is basically Mickey Through the Looking Glass).

At any rate, if the SE were special enough I'd buy it. The top half of the list from Disneykid would definitely do it.
Let's hope you get your wish!

I think a killer cover would be, if you can picture it, The talking door open, to reveal all of wonderland with alice's silouete(sp) cut out, over looking everything, as she as departing into the vast land of wonderment.
