Finding Nemo DVD Discussion

Post by Satoshi »

It came out today! Yay! Man I can't wait to see it again. I haven't seen it since 5/30 which is umm almost half a year ago. Wow I can't believe it's been that long. My brother just went to Wal-Mart to pick it up for me so I'll be watching it soon. Yay!

So anyways post your thoughts, reviews etc. of the DVD here. :D

I just bought mine too from best buy. They are giving a free dvd/cd wallet case with a finding nemo logo on it which is pretty nifty. They actually made us wait in a half hour line for the free case and just about everyone did. This dvd is selling like mad and I wouldn't be surprised if it set records.

We leave in ten minutes for The Disney Store.
I'm gonna give my 3 year-old daughter the claim voucher and send her up to the counter to get the DVD. She (and we) are very excited!

Today,at school, during 2nd hour(English),a girl said her mom got Finding Nemo at like,4:00 am,and watched it before school. Why this was mentioned was that we were told to write about a mystery seen on TV or movies,or read in a book.So I used Finding Nemo's mystery(looking for Nemo).Marlin rules!

Ok, I just got it. It's in my hands now. I got it at the Disney Store. My first impression: I haven't played it yet -I am at work...- but the cover SUCKS. It's not that the artwork is not beautiful. I love it. What sucks is those stickers that are added and that ruin the cover. Grrrr...!!!
The first one: The Disney Store $19.99 Returns require receipt.
Of course, Duh!!! Why u do that, Buena Vista?
The second one, even worse:
A sea of offers! Mrs Fields, Orville Redenbacher's, THQ, Dole, America's #1 Banana.

Ok, what is that all about?? I hate when they ruin the artwork in the covers like that.

Once I play the DVD and it's features, I'll let you know HOW MUCH I love it!

Wow! Wal-Mart had the DVD for just $13.88! They're also giving away a free CD-ROM game that's packed in with the DVD case inside the plastic wrap, like last year's Monsters, Inc. Game Wal-Mart promo.

Alright well I'm about to watch it. I'll post later with impressions!

The movie looks and sounds great. Not a whole lot in the way of extras though. The 25 minute making of was good, but the rest of the stuff is just sort of fluff. The studio tour was funny but it was just a big joke, nothing to be learned from that. The Easter Egss I found so far are funny, but again nothing spectacular. Its a nice disc but the extras are nowhere near the level of the previous Pixar releases and thats really too bad.

I gotta agree with Maerj that it feels light. I feel like I've checked out most of the extras - though I'll watch "Making Nemo" later tonight. All of them have been entertaining, but it just seems light. Obviously, there's still the audio commentary to go through.

I really enjoyed the Jean-Michael Costeau short, character interviews, and studio tour. Funny stuff. Trailers and Fishy Facts were neat - though there were more Fishy Facts that they didn't include and the Movie Surfers segments on like the hidden things and stuff from Disney Channel would have been a cool addition. So would the TV spots.

Liked the Virtual Aquariums, too, but it seemed like they could have used...hmm...fish?

Like there are certain things that they've already covered in depth on other discs, like storyboards and progression demos, that I don't mind being missing...but I'm hoping that the "Making Nemo" discusses the story changes and stuff.

Okay, checked out the Visual Commentary bonus stuff and that's a good smorgasbord of behind-the-scenes stuff. In some ways, it's nice to have it laid out as 35 minutes of just everything mixed, loosely connected to the chronology of the film and I definitely prefer watching it like that than interrupting the commentary and returning. Glad they gave the option. In some ways, it's a nice change from the Story / Layout / Deleted Animation, etc. menus.

I still have to give the commentary a listen and "Making Nemo" a view, but I think while it doesn't have as much as Monsters, Inc or the Toy Storys, there is a bunch of good stuff.

I haven't had time to watch all of mine yet. Anyone find Easter Eggs? If so, are you willing to share with us where to find them? :P

I was thinking about the same thing hahaha!!!

well, I already found an easter egg, it is on the top left corner of the Teacher's class (that screen where you select the fish you wanna know more)...it's not a big deal, it's just about Dory (oh god I Loooooove that Dory)

The menues are simply beautiful with all those colors and the moody score, I also liked the transition from the main menu on disc 2 and the special features menu.

Too bad the read along is that short, it is the only one read along I like :D

about price...here in Mexico Disney DVDs are really expensive, I've got mine for about 28 dollars!!

I've found two Easter Eggs that tell you "Not everything is an Easter Egg, you know." and the little Dory thing, thus far.

"Nemo" breaking record sales....
And that shows once more why CGI is much better than 2D (at least for Eisner).
Damn PIXAR!!! Why are your films so... great?!

I got it for 20 dollars at Borders Bookstore (yesteday morning; they said I was the first one to purchase it, but I was also the first one there, basically. LOL.) It is a beautiful film. The best of Pixar, I think, and the best 3D film yet...

The musical score is lovely, and I hope Thomas Newman finally wins the Academy Award for this one (and I predict he will). The cinematography, though there was no camera, so to speak, was so good...along with the sound editing and all other technical aspects.

(Personally, I find this film is much easier to appreciate and be in awe of, on a technical, visual level, than it is to love. It's slick, but lacks something untouchable and organic. But that's just me...)

My favorite moments: the Field Trip bit, where they skirt over the reef, and Nemo goes, "Whoa," and the piano fills the background as Mr. Ray swerves over the seaweed and sends the fish scattering. Marvelous. The jellyfish forest. The surfing turtles.
