Walt Disney World recently announced that its entertainment department was seeking improv actors who would play the roles of Captain Jack Sparrow or a fellow pirate in a new character show at the Magic Kingdom.
[...]
The casting call seeks comedic actors with strong improvisational skills for a new “high-spirited” and humorous show involving “audience participation.” Captain Jack Sparrow and his assistant, a fellow crew member named Mack, will teach audience members in a fun participatory show how to live a “pirate’s life” and the secrets of the “pirate brotherhood.”
According to the call, in the new Pirates of the Caribbean show Captain Jack Sparrow and Mack will demonstrate the right and wrong ways to manage the situations a pirate may find himself in, with lessons entitled “Swashbuckling for Beginners” and “Run Away – FAST!”
The upcoming Captain Jack Sparrow show at the Magic Kingdom will likely begin this summer to promote both the new film sequel Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest as well as the attraction at the Magic Kingdom. Or it could begin performances as soon as May as a pirate-themed offering while the ride is still closed.

Sounds to me like it could be really good or really bad.
I'm not all that excited about a show about it- I'm really bitter that after all these years they are changing the original PoTC ride to incorporate stuff from the movie. I just think some things are sacred and they shouldn't be touching the ride at all. If they want to leave the ride as is, and make a show- by all means. But to do both?

Sounds both interesting and promising. If it's opening in time to promote the new movie, I doubt that it's going to be getting its own stage or anything like that. I wonder if this is going to be more of a street performance outside of POTC.

Maybe they'll perform at that Mexican place - that El Pirato and Parrato taco place?? Is there a stage there? I know they have a restaurant w/ stage in Adventureland in Disneyland.Fidget1234 wrote:a show or steetmosphere in Adventureland?
This show sounds pretty awaesome, but I dunno how Disney is gonna find another guy to match Johnny Depp's performance and portrayal of Jack Sparrow. Mack sounds like a lot of fun. For some reason, I'm thinking of a Don Quixote/Quijote and Sancho Panza like pairing. That'd be hilarious!!!

It's "El Pirata y El Perico" (The Pirate and the Parrot, I think). The restaurant's been only seasonal for the past couple years, usually just opened in the summer since there's not many food places in AdventurelandKram Nebuer wrote:that Mexican place - that El Pirato and Parrato taco place?? Also, there is the Adventureland Veranda in MK, which used to be a restaurant, I think. Now it's mostly used for meetings and such (during the indoctrination - I mean, the orientation of castmembers, they usually gather them there for the final leg of the tour, which usually ends in meeting a Disney character and getting their official castmember-only Magic Kingdom pin).
Would be cool if they could have this Jack Sparrow/Mack improv show right by the entrance of PotC, since it's more or less a rest area now and character meet-n-greet for Peter Pan, Wendy, Hook, Smee. OMG, that would be kickass, if you could have Jack Sparrow and Peter Pan butting heads and having nice little fights, and they'd ask the kids to take sides...
