Which Disney AC will probably NOT get a 2-disc Release?

AC, as in Animated Classic. I'm pretty sure that these will probably not get a 2-disc release/re-release:

The Three Caballeros
Make Mine Music
Fun and Fancy Free
Melody Time
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad
The Sword in the Stone
Robin Hood
The Black Cauldron
The Great Mouse Detective
Oliver and Company
Treasure Planet
Home on the Range

I do have hope for these however:

Dumbo This might be okay if the Big Top Edition will be great.
The Aristocats
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
The Rescuers/The Rescuers Down Under Kind of like a boxed set of both of them as 2-disc re-release
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Hercules

I would love for Hunchback and Hercules to be put out on 2-disc editions or at least really good sigle disc editions.

I also would love to see The Sword in the Stone, Black Cauldron, and Great Mouse Detective get some kind of decent DVD.

But, for the most part, I agree with you on the ones that will probably not get a 2-Disc edition.

Why not? I haven't seen them, and since I haven't, I'll be trying to wait longer until a better re-release comes out. I'm sure that some people, like me, who don't have these movies, would like a better re-release of these movies because they would read the UD reviews and want a better review. I'm sure that even some of the double-dippers would like a better re-release of these titles. Even though they weren't as finiacially fantastic as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, I still think that every Disney Animated Classic should have a great/fantastic/magnificent/wonderfully fantastic and magnficent release so that everyone can see them at their best.

Probably not, but I'm sure that Disney could come up with something. Interviews with animator Ollie Johnson (The last of Disney's Nine Old Men), and film historian John Canemaker, and Leonard Maltin*, maybe a segment about why these movies were made, and how they were made. Some classic Disney shorts, which I actually love to watch, as I'm sure most Disney fans do, that have the characters of the movies. A wonderful set top game, and possibly some music videos. Not remakes, but a new twist to the old versions that reflect the original version. New digital restoration, bringing the colors back to life. A new Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound Digital Mix, and an enhanced original version of the music. I know that some segments were cut out of these movies, so uncut versions of the films. How the Disney team came up with the stories for these movies. I'm sure that there could be more. I just think they need a better re-release.

I would really like if they put Hercules: Zero to Hero out on dvd, but unfortunetly there is no word on it. But if they re-release Hercules they should also release Hercules: Zero to Hero!

These two were released as a collector's edition Laserdisc boxed set. I would love if they'd release it on DVD as well. It could include ALL of the South America related shorts etc. The LD also had several other bonuses.
It would be ideal for the Treasures series, if most of the material wasn't available elsewhere.

I've always found this war-time era fascinating, and it would be good to see all the South American films/package features compiled in a 3 or 4-disc box set. Something like the Fantasia Anthology. There are certainly stories to be told about Walt's goodwill trip to South America, and the business and politics behind it all.

As Billy Moon points out, there are also plenty of related shorts to pad out a bonus features package, in addition to short films, featurettes and what is sure to be a wealth of info in the Disney Vaults.

Of course, to do this right, the package features would have to be UNCUT, and not re-released as they are in their present form (especially Make Mine Music and Saludos Amigos).

Every film has a story behind it, so every film should get a 2-disc set. Even the DTVs. In theory anyway. So far, I think most of the films that have lent themselves to 2-Disc sets have gone that way. It is just a shame that the days of the excellent 2-Disc sets - Atlantis, Emperor's New Groove, Dinosaur, Tarzan etc - all of which wouldn't necessarily be obvious candidates for such treatment, have long since passed.

I would certainly not expect "special edition" 2-disc DVDs of most of the "patchwork" (!) titles individually, but this war/post-war era is indeed fascinating and some sort of "Treasure" set of more/all of them together with extras would be very much "in order". As pointed out already, there IS some highly interesting material to the South American features in existence.

I don't expect a "SE" of "The Black Cauldron". But it could need one - bad.

I think it would be a shame for those movies not to get a somewhat expansive special edition, if not the full-blown 2-disc Collector's / Masterpiece / Platinum treatment. They are each generally underrated among mainstream video watchers, and with some critics.

I agree with several previous posters that the war-time package shorts deserve 2-disc treatment. There must be loads of documentary stuff from the South American trips that has never been released. I wouldn't mind if they were released as WD Treasures, though. Also, Aristocats would be great to have as platinum or whatever-they decide-to-call it.

I agree, those are really the ones I want to see re-released the most (in addition to adding Pinocchio and The Rescuers to the roster of Platinum / 2-disc special editions ((since they don't even exactly call them 'Platinum' anymore))! Not to mention a 2-disc re-release of Peter Pan, not for myself - for the other fans). At the very least, they really, really should special edition Three Caballeros, Fun and Fancy Free, and Ichabod & Mr. Toad.

All this does bring up an interesting question - what exactly is in Disney's future? The only releases anyone is sure of are 3 more Platinums, and some single-disc special editions of Dumbo, and last I heard, Fox and the Hound. Are we all just waiting on word from Disney, before they give us any general idea what could maybe expect. It would be very fair to let us know what we're saving our money for. I just hope they still see that their effort and hard work thus far hasn't gone unnoticed.

Well, the 1995 laserdisc box set of The Three Caballeros/Saludos Amigos includes quite some interesting material that I'd guess most DVD buyers have never seen nor heard.

What kind of extras were included on the LD release? I find myself very much doubting these two films would receive a two-disc treatment.

Nope none of those Animated Disney films will have a 2 Disc set but In my own opinion I really believe all Disney Animated films should get a 2 disc treatement at some point.
