Aristocats II in production for 2007
Found this on IMDB.com.
Under Director Jim Kammerud is a new listing for Aristocats II. I'm at work and don't have time to research, so if anyone else can find out some specifics, that would be great. For all I know, it might be cancelled.
Aristocats II (2007) (V) (in production)
Fox and the Hound II (2006) (V) (filming)
101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure (2003) (V)
The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea (2000) (V)

Phil Harris (Voice of Thomas O'Malley) is dead. The story could be about the 3 kittens as older cats and Duchess and Thomas would be minor characters. I just don't see a good story line here, but who knows.

You know, the voice of Mickey Mouse is dead. And Goofy. And untold other cartoon characters, not just Disney ones.
It takes more than an argument that a character voices are no longer with us to convince me a sequel is a bad idea (what convinces me more is that the original film wasn't really up to much in the first place). But hey, sequel haters at least its not one of Walt's films eh?

They do. At least one new animated film a year. Which is more than they were doing when Walt was in charge. I really don't see the problem. The Sequels aren't repressing originality.BATBFan1 wrote:

I honestly don't get why they do crappy 2D animation straight to DVD sequels but they dont make new orignal 2D movies even if they came out on DVD it would be better then " Aristocats II: Maries' big adventure!"

I hate sequels where young characters never age (*cough*landbeforetime*cough*), so I hope this time around Toulouse, Berlioz, and Marie are at least half-grown. Perhaps Duchess and Thomas will have new kittens together?

Anyways, it's been awhile since I've seen Aristocats, but what I remember is that it's one of those films that makes you think the characters are cute, but you don't quite like or care for the story.
The bright side? A 2007 release would likely have the original get a new edition, thus, giving the Gold Collection edition the boot.
The down side? The only worthwhile bonus on the GC was the trailer, which I'm sure will not be on a new edition.
It seems that Disney's plan is to make sequels for films in order to get a new edition of the original. Bring it on, Disney! Bring it on! I've been waiting for a special edition of Robin Hood and The Black Cauldron! Make sequels! Make sequels!

Who cares about those SILLY BORING cats???? What stands out from the first movie are the magnificent songs by Sherman Brothers-such success cannot be repeated in a sequel- and the Madame Adelaide's lawyer, George-he rocks! Nothing else! WHO CAREEEEEEEEES?????????????????? Make a Hercules sequel and leave the cats in one peace.

If this goes to the theaters then I won't be unhappy, if it is a direct-to-video film then tey should burn in hell. Why is there no originality anymore. Make these sequels, theater approved and I am sure the sales will be a lot better. I for one avoid all direct-to-video sick-quels. They are a plague to all of us DVD buyers. We want originality, not a retread of an old story (i.e. The Shaggy Dog).

The only way to watch movies - Original Aspect Ratio!!!!

Well first you say you think Disney shouldn't make a sequel to an "unpopular Disney movie" then you say they shouldn't make one to a film like Snow White?Lucylover1986 wrote:This one really doesn't need to be made. The original isn't even that popular of a disney movie. I guess Disney will make a sequel to everything. They better not dare pick up the idea of a Snow White sequel again though.
Many people say sequels always "ruin the original"(though if the original was really that good, no sequel or spin-off could ever ruin it) but even when Disney makes sequels to Animated Classics that aren't even that good like "The Aristocats" and "The Fox and the Hound" PEOPLE STILL complain. It'll never end!
Personally, I think The Aristocats 2 could work! For one, the film is more "cartoony" than most animated classics, so it has enough potential for a sequel. Plus people always aruge how the animation in "cheapqueals" suck, but this is a film where the original film didn't really have good animation. Sure many of the original voice actors are dead, but nobody complaines when Wayne Allwine continues to voice Mickey Mouse! So my main point is, why is everyone hating this SO much?
Seriously, people keep acting like a DTV sequel to any animated classic is the end of the world, but they get excited when they make a more expensive and even more pointless sequel like "Toy Story 3". *shrugs* I guess Disney will always be evil no matter what.

Hopefully Lasateer nips this in the bud, and stops production of every DTV, besides the ones that are near finality.
However, if this is theatre quality (similar to Jungle Book 2 or better) I would have no problem. But DTVs are not accepted, sequels are, but not DTVs.
I personally consider the Aristocats Walt's last film, not the Jungle Book, only because Walt set the groundwork for it. Being so, I think that it shouldn't be touched either.

The Aristocats 2? Sounds like it has a little promise, then again probably not. I'd love the orginal on a better 2 disc editon, because I don't have the GC edition, jus the disgusting and grainy VHS. I loved the voice of Phil Harris as Thomas O'Malley, O'Malley the alley cat! And Eva Gabor as Duchess. I just love her voice in general, with the whole accent thing. The Aristocats 2 could really be about anything, well the cat's have to be there. Since most, if not all, the voice actors, for the adults, are dead, I feel that this movie isn't necessary, and should be put to rest.

Sorry to break it to ya, but probably NOT going to happen, especially since Steve Jobs is the largest shareholder at Disney, and he's made TONS of sequels to his stuff at Apple.castleinthesky wrote:Hopefully Lasateer nips this in the bud, and stops production of every DTV, besides the ones that are near finality.

Also, FYI, The Jungle Book 2 was originally going to be a DTV, they only put it in theaters when Return to Neverland was a surprise hit(to an extent). As for the "or better" comment, the only way they'd be able to that is if they made The Aristcats 2 in CG. Which would you prefer?
Well if we played that rule, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", "The Rescuers Down Under", and countless shorts and t.v. shows including "DuckTales" and "Chip N' Dale Rescue Rangers" would've never been made.TheSequelofDisney wrote:Since most, if not all, the voice actors, for the adults, are dead, I feel that this movie isn't necessary, and should be put to rest.

My step-father voiced for both Mickey & Goofy for theme-park/radio/ destination tv commercial spots for 17 years (1984-2001). Not too current- but not too old either- he's still very much alive in his 50s & can still do their voice just as perfect. He's just retired.2099net wrote:You know, the voice of Mickey Mouse is dead. First, I said Lasateer, not Jobs. Lasateer is the head of the animation departments.Timon/Pumbaa fan wrote:

Next, I very well know that both Peter Pan 2 and the Jungle Book 2 were both sent to theatres, after being originally DTVs. But they were still released the proper way. The only proper way of releasing movies is on the big screen, and they were apparently good enough to make as much money as they did. You can compare them to Teacher's Pet, seeing Teacher's Pet did terrible.
Nextly, "or better" means the animation quality needs to be better. The Jungle Book 2 by no reach was even close to being on par with the Disney Renaissance movies. However it is a level above most DTVs. If the Aristocats 2 is going to have a sequel, make the animation good, with high quality, while releasing it in theatres.
