i enjoy mostly anything disney has released on DVD. I plan on owning all of the original classics and their sequels (DTV or not). And to be completely honest i like them all. I think too many people get caught up in the "OMG they are making a sequel to ________ there is no way it can measure up to that" or "The sequel ruins everything about the original" mind-set. Personally i see it all as two different films, and they do nothing for each other because they are two different films.
I do think that there was an obvious period of lack of energy towards the DTV sequels, but even still a lot of them aren't that bad. I say check them out then pass judgment, a lot of people on here will say something sucks when they've never seen it.

Even though most people say that the sequels either DTV, or what not, I personally like anything that Disney has put out to DVD, well in Animated Classics that is. Oh no, I think that I'm starting to sound like someone that's username starts with an r, ends with an a, and has a middle that contains these letters: eyquil. AHHHHHHH!!!!!! The horror! But no, really, I like almost everything that the Disney department puts out, no matter how stupid most people think the storyline or the characters are.

I definitely enjoy Disney films especially the Animated Classics, Disney/Pixar films, Live Action films and the ones on Disney Channel. I also like SOME of the direct-to-video sequels. But not all of them may be called perfect. There are also some Disney films that lack something, which makes them weak and undesirable compared to other Disney films who, by any chance, seems better.
It is impossible for people not to judge a certain Disney film. A Disney film may receive loads of criticisms maybe because of the boring plot, forgettable characters, weak songs and scores, nonsense villain, bad acting/singing voices, uneffective cast and crew...these are just some of the basic factors of unsuccessful Disney films.
I really do enjoy Disney films but not all of them will live forever nor be treasured forever.

You mean - don't review them? Or judging Disney, the company? Well anyway, I think it would be easier to enjoy Disney films, home videos and the like if... you know... they made better new movies (or less) and didn't force their videos out of print. But of course, I'm just stating the obvious (that's what life's all about)any disney fans who enjoy disney and don't judge them

It's hard to say you enjoy something if you haven't judged it...
I mean, I can't say I enjoyed Aladdin without judging if it's a good movie based on plot, characters, animation, etc.
But if you mean people who wholeheartedly (and sometimes blindly) enjoy whatever Disney churns out, I'm not one of them. I won't buy Cinderella II just because it's Disney. I definitely won't go around collecting all the Princess DVDs. I'll use my money on what I enjoy from Disney, not on whatever's imprinted with the Disney name.

This is pretty much how I feel. Although I do enjoy a good number of Disney's films, if the situation came up where I had to choose between buying a Disney DTV and an animated feature from another studio that I truly enjoy, I'm definitely going to go for the latter.Escapay wrote:But if you mean people who wholeheartedly (and sometimes blindly) enjoy whatever Disney churns out, I'm not one of them. It's not that I don't think that DTVs can be enjoyed in their own right. But generally, when I (a fairly conservative DVD shopper) decide to invest in a new DVD, chances are it's going to be a full theatrical feature. I just prefer them for the greater attention to detail and depth of plot that DTVs generally do not offer. Besides, what's the point in buying the DVD when the movie will show up on the Disney Channel a few months later anyway?
Enjoyment of films doesn't have to be driven by brand loyalty. Non-judging of one studio can on occasion lead to unfair judging of another, on the basis of, "How could Studio X possibly make as good films?" I think it's best to have an open mind and appreciate a film for its own merits rather than for what company made it.
Oh, I'm sorry, you're all standing...here, let me make you a chair!
