The Animation Guild Blog comments on a new logo designed by Mike Gabriel for Walt Disney Pictures, adding the artwork will likely debut with "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest". "I think it will blow people away," notes the blog. The piece likewise mentions the work currently being done to "Meet the Robinsons", following Jim Hill Media's report of John Lasseter's suggestions for the movie. The blog assures, "Not too unusual, really," pointing to changes made during the productions of "Aladdin" and "The Fox and the Hound".
Steve Hulett says on the blog "The new logo is a cousin of what went before: sky and clouds and a nighttime landscape then castle and fireworks and shimmering water and... You'll see the the new stuff on or about July 9 when the "Pirates of the Caribbean" comes out. Worth seeing, I think".
I think that the original Walt Disney Pictures logo (as seen on my avatar) will be retired until "Pirate of the Caribbean" comes out. I like to see that new logo that I've never seen it before. This original logo has been around since 1984 or 1985 until it finally ended this year. The original was probably 21 years old. It was a great logo, but I'm going to miss it. I'm very sad to see it go.
Original Walt Disney Pictures Logo (1985-2006)
I hope if "The Little Mermaid" PE comes out on DVD in the fall, I'm not really sure if they could keep the old logo or maybe if they put a new updated logo like they did with the new "Pirates of the Caribbean" sequel if it comes out. Will see what happens if I can catch a glimpse on this new logo.
