a question about SALUDOS AMIGOS... someone please answer!
Okay I collect Disney movis but I am not really into the live action and animation mix... so I was wondering does Saludos Amigos have bot and the same with the Three Caballeros I haven't seen either so I really don't know! Oh and also Melody Time

Have bot? Not sure what you mean by that. The Three Caballeros is a little more better than Saludos Amigos...simply because Saludos Amigos doesn't really have animation/live-action mixed in. It's all about skits in between the cartoons that talks about Walt and his team traveling around South America and experiencing the different countries. The Three Caballeros is the one with the animation/live-action mixed in.

IMO except for the cartoon bits, Saludos Amigos is EXTREMELY boring. (theres more of a documentary feel to this one than in Three Caballeros). It is informative from a historical point of view. I'd try and rent it first to see if you want to buy it. ( I haven't bought it yet. the completist in me who wants a copy of EVERY Disney animated feature is fighting with the other guy in me who really doesnt care much for this movie)
As far as Melody Time goes, it is all cartoon shorts strung together. I think you will end up enjoying that a lot more.

Hi PrincessMarlo
It's a shame these films aren't better known. Although narratively they often fall short, Saludos Amigos (and especially The Three Caballeros) have some of the best animation produced by Disney. I would recommend both just for that. Saludos Amigos doesn't have any cartoon/live action footage as I remember it, but its possible there's an odd introduction sequence. Its mainly a series of shorts with the live action inbetween. I have to agree with others, the live action bit is uninspiring, but in context of the time it was made, it was probably facinating for US audiences.
If you have any questions about Disney films, its worth checking the comprehensive UltimateDisney reviews section. A lot of people put a lot of time and effort into the reviews published (including myself on a couple of occasions). It can be reached from the front page or from the Reviews link at the top of the forum pages.

It's definitely not "more documentary" than "story" - I'd say two thirds of the (short) running time of Saludos Amigos consist of animated shorts. Whether you'll find it interesting or not I cannot tell - I know that I do, though.Princessmarlo wrote:I want to get all the animated movies too but if it sucks I don't think ther is a point esp when it is more documentary then actually story! Saludas Amigos was intially four separate shorts that were going to be released separately. I think Disney later found out that it was financially better to pull the shorts together into a feature film. There is certainly some live-action in this film because they talk a little bit about the inspiration behind the shorts.
