Define the term "Disney Movie"...

Well, to me, a Disney movie is a movie that is made by the company and labled as such. You know, a movie that says "A Walt Disney Production" or something like that. I don't count movies that are made by companies that Disney own as Disney movie, as no one thinks of them that way. Scream, for instance, was made by Touchstone, which is owned by Disney. But Scream, I don't think, should be considered as a Disney movie. Even most recent movies actually labeled as Disney movie can't be considered Disney movies as they are garbage and, I may be wrong, but isn't Disney supposed to stand for quality ? Then how do you explain Chicken Little, Freaky Friday, Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen, The Shaggy Dog, Cars (though Pixar is partially responsible), High School Musical, Herbie Fully Loaded, The Pacifier (Vin Diesel. All his movies are horrible), and The Greatest Game Ever Played ?

Many larger companies release films that they may not have wholly produced.

Take Kevin Smith's last few films, funded or co-produced by Miramax/Weinstein Company. However, technically it is his production company - View Askew films - that is actually making the movies. Sorry, this is the best example I can think of.

Look at the opening credits of most movies and you will see that it is usally a case of "Major Studio Presents a A Blah Blah Company Film in Association with the Associated Productions". The cost of filmmaking today is such that most films appear to be co-produced on some level.

I just count a Disney film as any that has "A Walt Disney" logo on it.

Same for me, if it has the logo it is Disney, and althought Disney sells a million Nightmare Before Christmas things, it doesn't have the Disney logo on it do it doesn't get into the Disney dvd section!

So do most people, but Disney just sticks their castles on everything. I mean there's NO WAY 101 Dalmatians should have had a 3D castle... it shouldn't even have the 1985 blue castle it had on VHS

Though basically, everything that says "Disney DVD" on the side and has that annoying-as-heck bumper I consider a Disney movie. Of course, then there's Miramax (they distributed Pokémon movies which aren't even nearly related to Disney!), but I really don't count those...
