That first cover with all the characters is the one you'll be getting when you get the DVD. The zoomed in one with the huge Ariel is just for promotional use.numba1lostboy wrote:I liked the first "official artwork" we had from Disney. I liked the array of characters it showed. Ariel is just too big on this one.

Not to worry lostboy, I was somewhat under that impression as well. It is stated in this thread that that cover is for promotional use, but then there are some posts that indicate that the zoomed cover is the actual cover. I don't understand why they can't just use the actual cover that people will actually be buying in the advertisments, instead of a worse-looking verzion. I guess that's beyond me.Lucylover1986 wrote:That first cover with all the characters is the one you'll be getting when you get the DVD. I guess I'm kind of weird, but, why would you want a copy of both a dvd and a video?slyslayer3000 wrote:will it also be released in Videos? I usually buy 1 DVD and 1 Video of the same title...LOL

yeah, I used to do that as well but then I came to my senses because I was doing unnecessary double dipping when I can do so much more with my DVD than a VHS that is pan and scan anyway.TheSequelofDisney wrote:I guess I'm kind of weird, but, why would you want a copy of both a dvd and a video?slyslayer3000 wrote:will it also be released in Videos? The Good: The Hans Chrisitian behind the story feature, and the virtual ride begin based upon an idea from the imagineering team! Also, fluff is kept to a minimum.
The Bad: A new music video, no commentary!
The Ugly: The Little Mermaid III

I don't think these are final, the release is not before October - lots can still change...DisneyFan 2000 wrote:The Good: The Hans Chrisitian behind the story feature, and the virtual ride begin based upon an idea from the imagineering team! Also, fluff is kept to a minimum.

If the Virtual Ride is based on the dark ride concept that was meant for Disneyland Paris, then it's going to be a VERY cool feature (I honestly would've preferred a virtual game on the Cinderella DVD over the ESPN and House of Royalty crap). I hope we get a full press release soon. Disney's taking a bit longer than usual to release info on this title.

The Little Mermaid Platinum Edition DVD Press Release
Ummm...I thought that the press release already came out:
http://www.ultimatedisney.com/littlemer ... lease.html
It doesn't have the information on bonus features we desire, but isn't it still the official press release?

1.78:1 Aspect Ratio? So...is that the theatrical aspect ratio that the producers/directors want? I wonder how many animation fans will cry foul since they're not getting the whole 1.66:1 frame to see all that extra animation...
No one's griped about FastPlay yet, but then again, the complaints would fall on deaf ears, as Disney, lazy people, and parents everywhere love it...

So 1.66:1 is the movie's OAR? Why in the world would Disney make it 1.78:1???? Oh yeah, and Escapay, I really do HATE FastPlay.Escapay wrote:1.78:1 Aspect Ratio? Most all animated classics starting with The Rescuers were animated in 1.66:1, the exceptions being The Black Cauldron, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and Brother Bear (those three were around 2.35:1, with Brother Bear's first act in 1.85:1).TheSequelofDisney wrote: So 1.66:1 is the movie's OAR? Beauty and the Beast and The Hunchback of Notre Dame are presented on DVD in their theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1, which is what the producers/directors preferred.
Also, the original Limited Issue/Gold Collection disc for Mulan had both a P&S 1.33:1 AR and a theatrical non-anamorphic 1.85:1 AR.
But this is the first I've seen of TLM beign presented in 1.78:1, so I'm merely assuming that's the preferred AR of the producers/directors.

Yes, but why wouldn't they want to make the customers happy, and have TLM in the OAR? Wouldn't they want to make the customers happy, so that they could get more of a profit? I guess that this is just me, but I would much prefer TLM in it's OAR. Hey, Disney still might change it. Oh yeah, where is that commentary? This was the first DVD, that I would listen to, if it had a commentary.
