It was one of the better Sequels IMO.
The Jungle Book II and Return To Neverland I believe were worse.
Not a fan of Return to Neverland i c ? :o :?
It was def. the best fo the sequels to me... Peter Pan was my childhood fav movie...and RtN is just as amazing to me as the original.

That just goes to show you we disney fan are a diverse bunch...

By the way shouldnt Bambi II not technically count as a sequel since it is telling us a piece of the original...not what happens after?

At first, I thought this would be incredibly easy, but as I remembered Toy Story 2, the Pooh movies (which, in a way, can all be considered sequels) and all the Animated Classic sequels, it got a heckuva lot harder.

Instead of all animated sequels, I'll just do Disney animated sequels.

10. Kronk's New Groove

The reduced roles of Kuzco, Pacha, & Izma hurt the film a little, but the songs, jokes, and acting really make the film very enjoyable. Plus, let's face it people, Kronk's just lovable.

9. Bambi & the Great Prince of the Forest

I'm with Escapay on this one, Bambi II is such a crappy name compared to "&tGPotF". While I think that this is the best DTV as far as animation goes (thank you, Andreas Deja!), the movie barely has anything that made the original so great. Besides a few reused jokes, every other attempt at humor didn't work, IMO, especially a certain fart joke which I feel is an insult to everything in Bambi's world. But still, the father/son plot and a few great scenes bring this movie to my top 10. Besides, Patrick Stewart's voice DEMANDS respect from all.

8. Lilo & Stitch 2 - Stitch Has a Glitch

I can't think of much to say about this one, so I'll just repeat what Loomis said in his post and rephrase it so they look like my words. This sequel was in the spirit of the original, which was what made it so good. All the characters get a chance to shine, and the film is actually really funny, while being emotional at the same time. Sure, Daveigh Chase's voice is 1000x better than Dakota Fanning's, but it doesn't make the film any less enjoyable.

7. The Lion King II - Simba's Pride

I haven't seen it in a while, so I've got pratically nothing to say about it, but I rememebr it was good. The Romeo & Juliet story worked really well, and the animation was great. The fact that everyone from the original voice cast returned (except Rowan Atkinson) is just icing on the cake.

6. Toy Story 2

Do I even have to say why I like this film?

5. The Tigger Movie

A great little movie in the spirit of the Many Adventures film. The only thing I don't like about this movie is that Jim Cumming's Tigger isn't even half as good as Paul Winchell's. Jim's perfect as Pooh, but Paul just brought a special something to Tigger that can't be duplicated.

4. Fantasia 2000

I admit, I haven't had time to watch all of it yet, but I love the idea of the Fantasia series, and from the segments I have seen, it's pretty safe to say it deserves the #4 spot, at least.

3. The Return of Jafar

So sue me, I like it. I'm a sucker for the "evil doer goes good" story, and the way Iago did it was just so well done. Once again, the return of almost the entire voice cast really helps the movie.

2. Aladdin & the King of Thieves

C'mon, it's Aladdin, it's gotta be good. The plot's much better than RoJ, and Robin Williams is so much fun to listen to.

1. Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin

My favorite sequel right now. Just read Luke's review if you want to know why I like it, because my opinion's pretty much the same as his for this film.

Oh yeah, and how could anyone forget Shrek 2? Shrek 2's one of my favorite Animat- *shot by the huge number of Shrek haters on this board*

1. Toy Story 2: A great sequel to a great Pixar film. I really can't name very many sequels that use the old concepts yet creates new ones so well.

2. The Lion King 1 1/2: A hilarious point of view from the original, in fact it's based on the play, "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead", and whoever thought of that idea is a TOTALY GENIUS! :) The gags are awesome and the music rocks. Even the animation is amazing as well-drawn, almost as good as the original.

3. The Tigger Movie: Well I may not be Pooh's biggest fan(especially what he did to Mr. Toad at Florida :x ), I still do like the gang. But the only character I can say I'm a huge fan of it Tigger! This movie definetely rocks. Funny, yet emotional story. It may have paved the way for more unoriginal installments of this franchise, but this one rocks. But I agree with Pasta, this should've been Paul Winchell's last role and then he would retire.

4. The Rescuers Down Under: In everyway, better than that tripe original. The animation, music, characters, story and voice actors are all huge improvements and the film had me entertained the whole way. Definetely a great movie.

5. Fantasia 2000: Definetely a sequel the way I see it. Great new installments, and it even includes my favorite one from the original. This might just rank slightly above the original.

6. 101 Dalmatians 2: Patch's London Adventure: Like RDU, it's better than the original in everyway! I'm not joking! The characters have MUCH more emotion than the original, and has a much more interesting plot than just, "Let's go find these puppies". A really good moral as well, and the villians are more entertaining in the sequel than they are in the original.

7. Return to Never Land: A good film that's more impressive than the original! The characters are much more colorful and as Netty would put it, "A much less episodic structure to the plot". :D

8. The Lion King 2: Simba Pride: Some people are probably shocked it's down this low for me, but I don't love it as most. I just can't stand the fact there's a whole seperate group of lions. THERE WERE NEVER A WHOLE SPERATE GROUP OF LIONS!!! Even Zira is a bad follow-up to Scar. But the music is still pretty good and Timon and Pumbaa steal the show as usual.

9. Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas: I have yet to see it all the way through, but I did see the Goofy/Max story and Donald story! I already like it a lot! :)

10.Lady and the Tramp 2: Scamp's Adventure: Far from a great movie. The plot is a bit rehash, but it's got a load of excitment! Plus a Don Knotts inspired character get high points from me. :)

Ironically, I hate any others I've seen, thought there are a few I have yet to see.

Can't come up with 10, especially since I don't consider any of the "Toy Story" movies to be "Disney movies" (calling them "Disney movies" discredits Pixar). And no offense, but it seems pointless and ironic to list a "top 10" that includes subpar and mediocre titles.

That being said, these are the Disney animated sequels I enjoyed and would watch again:

Return to Neverland
Aladdin & The King of Thieves
Rescuers Down Under

I should also add that I haven't seen "The Lion King 1.5", "Kronk's New Groove", or "Bambi II" although the latter two are in my Netflix queue.

That's exactly what I was about to say.
You also need Rescuers: Down Under, that was an awesome classic sequel.
As you said, it is an animated Classic to me, so it went under my animated list. :)

Billy Moon wrote:Sorry to be a purist, but if I'm asked, Rescuers Down Under is the only Disney animated sequel in existance.

I don't count Fantasia 2000 as a sequel, because it doesn't continue the original's stories in any way. It merely uses a similar concept to the original.
I'm with you Billy. I am okay with Toy Story 2 if that is an eligible contender.

I still think the original Rescuers in better than the sequel. The sequel is too similar to the original: child kidnapped, villain wants valuable item and attempts to use the child to get it, the mice attempt to rescue the kid and stop the villain. If they kept it more like a mystery they could have made the story more interesting because they could have used some plot twists.

Which is usually how most sequels are written, which is why most sequels suck. :P

Though I have to disagree with you, in that I enjoyed Rescuers Down Under much more than the regular Rescuers. It takes place in Australia! w00t! :P :D

Does anyone think they will make a Sleeping Beauty or Snow White sequel? I think it would be awesome to have a Snow White sequel because it is the first animated movie I think it would piss a lot of people off, but the idea of a sequel would be awesome.... are there any Disney movies that you want to see a sequel to?
