I don't see The Simpsons doing 300 million domestically. More like 100-150 million. It will be cremated by OOTP. Besides, many fans have lost interest in The Simpsons, like myself.

I am positive that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will beat out The Simpsons Movie. There are way too many HP fans, and like some have said before a lot of Simpsons fans have lost interest because it has been on for so many years.

Gotta agree with Junkie. I'm actually not sure the if the Simpsons will pass $100 million to be honest.

Sure it has a huge fan club, but so did SpongeBob, and it barely passed $80 million. Harry Potter has a big fan club, NO WHERE NEAR as big as the Star Wars club, Spider-Man club, or *sigh* the Shrek club(), but still a pretty big club, while the Simpsons has a smaller one, and even the big fans admit, it's starting to die a bit.

But I still think Harry Potter will have trouble though. After all, it looks like it's facing the problems POA had. Too much competition before.

And POA didn't even have any other heavyweight family films to compete with it...just typical summer fare (the high profile Fahrenheit 911 came out around POA's 4th week in theaters, but by that time it had already dropped out of the top spot).

Things look especially stacked up in May 2007, though...Spider-Man 3, Shrek 3, AND PotC 3 all coming out in the same month?! Craaaaazaaay :P

I was under the impression that Evan Almighty was going to be released in December of this year (but I could be wrong there). And I'm surprise Ocean's 13 isn't planning a winter release.

Wait, is anything even comming out in the winter of 2007?

According to the release schedule at Box Office Prophets, so far the only family film they have scheduled for release in the winter season is Dreamwork's "Bee Movie", which is slated for November 2. However, there's also the independently-animated Delgo which seems as if it's been floating around in the post-production void for years now (and, in fact, it has). So that could theoretically be aimed for a winter release.

Then you've got the next Narnia picture, Prince Caspian, slated for a December 14, 2007 release, according to IMDB. And there's always the possibility that some of the films listed for summer could be bumped up to winter before this year is out. We shall see.

It originally was scheduled for 2006, but it was pushed out further a few months ago.

Ah yes, I forgot about Caspian (surprisingly) and I will probably see Bee Movie, as Jerry Seinfeld is to star in it.

Some OOTP-related news. In an interview with ComingSoon.Net, Rupert Grint talks about his upcoming movie, Driving Lessons, and how progress is going on filming of OOTP.
CS: How far along are you on the new "Potter" movie?
Grint: The fifth one? We're almost halfway there. We only sort of started, but there's still a long way to go, but it's going really well.

...

CS: Did you notice a big change in the writing, since this is the first one not written by Steven Kloves?
Grint: I guess it's still quite faithful to the book, and it's a really good script, actually.

I sure do hope it will be better than the first four Harry Potter films.

With the exception of the humongous Shrek 2. I'm sure none of us could forget that.

To me. this was the most boring book of the series. But we must see HP5 before we can see 6. I can't wait for 6.
