I'm not skeptical because GT/QP were the most recent, but because I think Disney may see Darkwing and Tale Spin as equal in appeal to GT & QP and therefore decide that season sets are unwarranted. Obviously, Ducktales and CDRR are the most popular and while I think Talespin and Darkwing would do well, I don't trust Disney to share my confidence in that. Normally I'm more optimistic than this, so hopefully my skepticism proves to be erroneous.share
Honestly, I didn't think that Gargoyles was as popular a show as the ones in the earlier Disney Afternoon block (which were household staples back in the late '80s/early '90s). And yet, Gargoyles was the first of ANY such shows to come to season set DVD, which kind of surprised me. I mean, I knew a whole lot of people who used to watch the old DA shows, but not as many who watched Gargoyles as regularly.

I can definitely see Disney deciding to release Ducktales and Rescue Rangers first to test the waters and see how these "classic" shows have faired in terms of buyer demand. The good news for Disney is that the people who remember them fondly from their first syndicated runs are now old enough to buy DVDs with their own money, and (hopefully) can get just as excited about buying childhood favorite Disney shows on DVD as much as they've flocked to buy old Ninja Turtles, Thundercats, etc. sets. It seems as if every children's property from the '80s is making a comeback anyway (who let Strawberry Shortcake back into the clubhouse, anyway?!), so why not the Disney Afternoon?

And hopefully, this thinking will eventually extend to the Gummi Bears as well

Oh...and did y'all know that apparently two episodes of Talespin are/were banned by Disney? From wikipedia:
Wikipedia wrote:Two episodes of Talespin drew varied amounts of controversy, enough for one episode to be temporarily banned and the other to be permanently banned.

The first of these, the episode "Last Horizons" was temporarily banned and taken off the air. Investigation of the event has since revealed that the reason for its temporary removal was the alleged stereotyping of Asians. The villain in the episode is an anthropomorphic panda Emperor named Wan Lo (voiced by actor Robert Ito) living in a mock-pre-WWII Asian nation called "Panda-La", who takes Baloo into his country to exploit his naiveté and attacks Cape Suzette.

The fictitious nation may have been a take on the real-world nation of Japan; which attacked the US naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on December 7, 1941. That incident ushered America's entry into the Second World War.

The second episode, titled "Flying Dupes" was aired for the first time on August 8th 1990 and was immediately pulled from the lineup afterward, not to be seen again for more than ten years. It made a brief re-appearance on Toon Disney several years ago, possibly by mistake, and has never been re-aired since. Considered by Disney to be a banned episode, the apparent reason for this episode's permanent removal from the airwaves is the terrorist theme associated with it. The general synopsis of the episode starts with Baloo being asked to deliver a goodwill present (a cuckoo clock he is told) to the High Marshall of Thembria from Cape Suzette. Baloo is unaware until the end of the episode that the package really contains a time bomb planted by munitions manufacturers who wish to provoke a war between Thembria and Cape Suzette in order to boost weapons sales.

Hmmm...wonder if those will ever see the light of day? I must say I liked the Panda-La episode, and didn't really think much of the supposed illusion to imperialist WWII-era Japan. Maybe it's just because I like pandas and was glad to have some variety in characters from the same ol' bears... :)

And The Little Mermaid: The Series! :) Come on, Princesses sell! And the Aladdin and Mermaid series seem to be popular requests...

I'll be interested to see what the Darkwing and TaleSpin sets are like. I have Rescue Rangers; that was my favorite! I think these shows deserve multiple disc volumes!
