Anyone else fear that these won't end up being season sets?

Well, there was a big discussion about that over on the "When are we getting Ducktales/ Rescue Rangers Vol. 2?" thread, and someone pointed out that although the wretched 3-episode Goof Troop/Quack Pack discs were released after the Ducktales/CDRR sets, they were probably if not in production then at least on the drawing board at the same time. So seeing the single discs as a "direction" that Disney would take with its shows gives us something ominous to think about, but might not be absolutely true.

For the sake of continuity, one would think that Talespin (and Darkwing Duck as well) would be released in the same format season sets as the previous '80s Disney Afternoon shows, since they were "next in line" in terms of production and original air dates. My best case scenario will be the joint release of Talespin and Darkwing Duck later this year, both to season sets (I think the joint release aspect is more of a no-brainer here).

If anyone knows how to find statistics (if they've been released) on how well the Disney Afternoon season sets have sold as opposed to the GT/QP "quickie" discs, that might be something interesting to look at, if Disney really is paying more attention to what people actually buy.

Well it's good news that at least another one of Disney's animated shows is being recognized by the Mouse House. However as far as season sets are concerned, I think we'll be disappointed. I think the most likely release will be similar the the DuckTales / Rescue Rangers sets from last year.

And if it's anything like the DT/RR sets, we won't get the "origin" episodes on the initial volume. :P I think the pilot (no pun intended) series for Talespin contains some of the very best episodes in the whole series, and it would be a shame to have to wait a while longer for them.

Late August? Well, at least it's better than a November release. I'm not to excited for this show so if they release it like a Disney Channel show these days, I would mind a little bit.

Why does it matter if it gets a volume or season release?

Right... I'm not skeptical because GT/QP were the most recent, but because I think Disney may see Darkwing and Tale Spin as equal in appeal to GT & QP and therefore decide that season sets are unwarranted. Obviously, Ducktales and CDRR are the most popular and while I think Talespin and Darkwing would do well, I don't trust Disney to share my confidence in that. Normally I'm more optimistic than this, so hopefully my skepticism proves to be erroneous.share

It probably matters for some people because they would rather have all of them at the same time instead of getting continous 4-episode per disc per dvd kind of thing. They'd like to have them all at the same time so that they wouldn't have to worry about when the next 4-episode dvd would come. I really don't care since I'm not really big in these series, or really any series of Disney, except That's So Raven. I'm holding out until the whole series comes out.

Yay! I love Talespin! One of my faves. I hope that we do get volume sets like we did with DT and RR. Can't wait to get these!

Hmm I would have thought A Tailspin Dvd release would be perfect in September 2007 since Tail Spin in which we first learned about Baloo, and King Louie were characters in the Jungle Book but oh well I'll probably get this along with Darkwing which i didn't experience much.

To be honest, I could give or take Darkwing Duck (although I'd probably enjoy it), but REALLY looking forward to Tale Spin in any format.

I do wonder whether they will be season sets/box sets in the style of the Rescue Rangers/Duck Tales releases, and would be disappointed if they weren't. As it stands, I doubt we will see anything other than the single volumes for Goof Troop and Quack Pack.

Also, while TVShowsonDVD are usually right about these things, the news that "we've learned that it is" coming out isn't exactly a concrete press release. There are Disney titles WITH presss releases that we are still waiting on (see: Disneyland DVD).

By the way, does anyone have any idea of how those GT & QP three-episode-per-DVD sets are selling?

I can't say that these are shows that I've been waiting for, but I'm glad Disney's getting around to releasing their (good) animated shows on DVD. I think that if we're lucky enough to get actual season sets for these shows, we should still expect as minimal effort as possible, as in barebones discs with meh-ish audio/video, but I suppose anything is better than nothing.

C'mon, Aladdin: the Series!
