WOW! thats pretty shocking! (well, about LatT...i already knew about Bambi II.)
why would they put Lady and the Tramp into the vault before Bambi or Cinderella?
Dont forget about Aladdin. :) they have yet to put that one in the vault as well.

I find this very interesting...i figured that Disney would put Bambi in the vault with Bambi II (like what they did with TLK, TLKII, and TLK 1.5)...and i also thought that they would put Aladdin back in the vault back in January....

I know that with Bambi II, this is a new marketing strategy, which is based around the whole, LIMITED TIME ONLY thing, and that if people know that a movie is IP for only around six months, it will coerce people into buying the movie that might otherwise contemplate buying..maybe Disney is going to start doing this with platinums? but yet again, WHY would they start with LatT, when 3 previous platinums are still IP?!?

well, i'm not complaining...I have Bambi and LatT...BUT i have yet to buy Aladdin and Cinderella...i guess i should move quickly...if they're thinking of putting LatT in the vault..

That's rather strange that they are considering putting LATT back in the vault so soon. I mean its barely been a month since it was released.

I thought Aladdin was already in the vault and most stores just had a lot still left. Does anyone know if the two Aladdin sequels are back in the vault. I haven't seen them around in ages.

I saw the set of the sequels at Target the other day, and at Best Buy not that long ago (I think it was the day LATT was released). Probably just depends on the store. I too thought they were in the vault.

I have "Bambi 2" on DVD and "Lady and the Tramp". The one DVD needs to go back to the vault is "Bambi 2".

It has to be a ploy to get people to buy more copies of these DVDs, maybe they're not selling very well. My mother almost bought Lady and the Tramp last month... No bite though.

Bambi II back in the vault!

Post by bambifan56 »

Well I am starting to see commercials on ABC and everywhere else saying that you need to catch Bambi II before it goes back in the vault, just in time for easter :D hehe

Catch it or shoot it? :D

It seems odd when Disney realised the folly of their ways on the Platinum Editions (they had there avalability window increaded) that Bambi II has such a small window of sales.

Why can't Disney make their mind up over anything?

This leaves me in a dilly of a pickle. (I'm possessed by Flanders, it would seem!)

Bambi II is yet to get a local release date, and the US is going OOP. What to do?

Ah, trusty UK Amazon...

...still, I wonder where our copy has gone to? Or LATT for that matter! Heard rumours, but no official word.

I guess it's time to consider when I'll be getting LATT now. I'm sure it might be a ploy with easter coming up since they haven't set a date. I am suprised it's mentioned for the vault before Aladdin.

Please disregard my above rant.

Australia now has a date for Bambi 2 (July 5).

Guess that solves my problem. I also wonder if Bambi 2 in Region 4 (or any other region for that matter) will have the same period of release before being 'vaulted'.

Sounds like they're trying to scare people into buying it "While stocks last" kind of thing.

From what I can tell, the retail shelves are still littered with Bambi II. If you want it, I would guess you still have at least a few months before it becomes hard to find.

That's very cynical of you, oh_bother.

Of course, I think you are ABSOLUTELY right. :) It has been Disney's marketing strategy for a while to use the "while stock's last" slogan, and giving us an even shorter window is even more incentive.

By the way, love the avatar and nickname :)

But wow, I didn't think Disney would take LATT out this soon. Even when Aladdin is still out.

Is there really a vault??

Post by Salkat89 »

Anytime I hear about movies going into the disney vault I picture shelves with all the OOP dvds and movies everywhere etc. However is there really a vault or is it just Disney's way of making it sound exciting??

I think it is a metaphorical vault.

Well, there ARE Disney archive vaults. But in this context, it just means they stop producing NEW copies of the DVD, and it will just be a matter of time before the copies on supermarket shelves run out.

I'd like to think the Vault is where they are keeping Walt's head in a jar...or maybe Michael Eisner.

Ok, that was uncalled for. Eisner is a god.

I think a Da Vinci Code style book set in the Disney Vault could be awesome. Ooh! National Treasure 2: The Disney Vaults.

I have asked this of 2 people who are supposedly "in the know" about such things. One told me that believe it or not, there is actually a vault (where the unsold copies of DVDs are stored). The other told me there's absolutely no such thing (and that all the DVDs are recalled and then liquified). I wonder if Iger even knows.

That would be silly. At the same time, if chaos and mass hysteria breaks out, hopefully those copies of The Jungle Book 2, The Little Mermaid II and Bambi II will be saved. Along with those old movies too.

I think it's silly to store unsold copies too. If they had one copy of each stored I could believe that since it's like an artifact then.
