Question about WDT Complete Pluto Volume 1

Post by Spandex »

One question;
Reacently i got hold of a copy of WDT Complete Pluto vol one.
When i opened it i saw it was a canadian edition.
Is there any differance between the canadian version and the usa version?
The keepcase is white (all my other WDT is from usa and have black ones)
also there is no signature of Roy E Disney on the back just Leonard Maltin's (no offence to Mr Maltin) I also noticed that the backside "art" on the tin was crappy printed...
Anything else? The disc seems genuine and there is a serialized proof within aswell as the small art-card.

Clues anyone?

The USA versions of that same "wave" had the same "problems".

I'd say there are no signficant differences between the Canadian and the USA versions.

I'd say you're fine. Yes, the packaging had begun to go downhill at that point, and for some strange reason the cases were white that year, but Roy's signature is noticeably absent because that wave was released during the time he was on a self-imposed exile from WDCo.

Actually, it's better. You get the real spelling of applicable words, and a cool Canadian flag amongst all those other logos on the latter half of the sheet stuck onto the back of the tin.

The DVD of "The Complete Pluto - Vol. 1" is not bad. Can't wait for Vol. 2 on this one if it comes out soon. I love Pluto.

The spelling depends on your point of view. It originated in the US, so Mickey Mouse In Living Color is correct. :P Now if it was Rocket Robin Hooud, I'd agree with you. *LOL* (Yes, I threw in the u just for you.)

I'm kidding of course.

The discs are identical in all respects. Besides, they are all made in Mexico anyway. It also gives R1 people a better way to get Treasures. The print runs are the same for Canada, but Canada's population is 10% of what the US population is. They're easier to find here.

(By the way, for you Canadians who can't join the DMC, I'll be getting some Ducktales: The Movie DVD's up here soon to sell. Keep an eye out in the trade forum.)

Thanks for the replies everyone.
I won't get into the debate between canadian and americans, i'm a swede, have enough problem with our norwegian neighbours. (could be compared with your canadian-american debate) :D Besides we'r supposed to be neutral as a country!
Well anyway, i haven't watched the whole Pluto treasure yet, but i like the few i have seen. And as always, Leonard Maltin is a treasure himself, atleast i think so, he makes the differance!

Ps. I bought WDT Donald vol 2 right before christmas and from what i can see the packaging has atleast improved a little, although i am not fond of the "cardboard-back" on the reacent tins, My WDT Mickey Mouse vol 2 has the back-art stamped on the tin... well well i guess we can't get everything... Ds.

Yes, but if the US had just left the language the way it was when you took it from us Brits, then there would be no problem! ;)

Some of it they have, and we Brits have changed it instead.

However in the middle of the 19th century is when the US trend to remove the "U" from words, change "PH" to "F", "S" to "Z" and so on started to occur.

Hurså problem with your Norwegian neighbours?

As for the particular sort of problem we're on to here, I don't have much problem with Swedish, but there are basically two somewhat different standards of written Norwegian (much more different than British and American English), but we've also got an "endless" number of standards between those two. Oh, well...
