seriously, call your local costco and ask them when they will have them in stock. you can find a directory on their website.

and i can't imagine the content of the dvds being any different from the one's that were released in the last few years. disney is way too lazy to make the effort to change anything. it would cost money, after all.

It looks like it is a pretty good set, i havn't gone over it in detail yet. I wish they would have put all the warner bro. cartoons in cronological order and not just the popular ones, but that is buisness for ya i guess. It was a really good deal though because at Costco when you bought looney tunes gold collection you got space jam(2-disc) for free.

Also - the treasures are not different, they were the exact same ones with the exact same content.

The Harrisburg, PA Costco also had the 7 Treasures set for sale on Tuesday

If you don't have the Treasures yet, by all means pick them up! True, they don't have the tins, but they are all great collections!

The collection of all 56 cartoons is excellent.

Some nice interviews and audio commentaries. On some of the cartoons you can turn the dialogue off and only have the music.

However, avoid some of the spinoffs especially the Reality Check DVDs.

These are cheaply made web cartoons.

Only watched two last night but they looked good(much better than any of the prints you see on TV) although not quite as cleaned up as the Disney Treasures and the sound was fantastic.

THE LOONEY TUNES GOLDEN COLLECTION is a must-buy. The reason it's not chronological is because they have to be restored first, so they are releasing as many restored cartoons as they can as quickly as possible. There are TONS and TONS of special features (any Disney DVD looks tame in comparison) and the restoration is beautiful. Every cartoon is uncut.

And for the $39.99 I paid for it at Costco, it was a killer deal.

I'm still not sure whether I should buy this set. . . I only want the Mickey in Black in White, Mickey in Living Color, Silly Symphonies and Goofy. I don't care about the other three (Disneyland, Davy Crock and Behind the Scenes).

Bah! i'll probably get weak and end up buying the set.

at around $18.00 a piece for them, i wouldn't see how you could pass it up, especially if not having the tins isn't a big deal. last winter when i was trying to get them all, i was spending upwards of $30 for some of them, like the mickey color and mickey b&w. and i probably put close to 100 miles on my car trying to find them!! i was driving all over the raleigh-durham-chapel hill, NC area to find them. i'd do some budget shifting and buy the set. otherwise, you might kick yourself later if you didn't.

Clubs like Costco are known for their shrinkwrap packaging.
Without having seen this I would imagine they are in a cardboard frame shrinkwrapped in see-through plastic wrap so the cases are clearly visible.

Stores usually do have permission to package things how they want. I can't tell you how many times I've seen double-pack DVD's at Wal*Mart. It's a little cardboard package, that says Wal*Mart on it, along with two movies for one great price or something.

Not everyone will agree. I think that the tin-boxes are mostly a nuisance. The value lies in what's recorded on the discs, not in the packaging.

The tin boxes:
- Add to the production cost.
- Add to the shipping cost.
- Are easily dented, causing extra work when damaged items have to be returned.
- Are slippery and difficult to store.
- Are much bulkier than regular dual Amaray cases.

The only advantage I can see is that they look nice on display. Since I don't own a display case (nor do I have room for one), that's all the same to me.

Thank heavens that Disney has done the sensible thing in Europe and will release these fine discs in regular space-saving Amaray cases.

The tins are nice, but they are hard to store. I keep most of mine in the closet while the actually cases are on the shelf.
