$5.99 BV DVD sale at deepdiscountdvd.com

Post by grassmonk »

I just got an email from Deep Discount DVD about another sale they are having on around 400 Buena Vista DVDs -- $5.99 each with free shipping. I noticed that all of the Cartoon Classics volumes were on the list as well as Mickey, Donald, and Goofy - The Three Musketeers. Great price for anyone that doesn't already have it.

Here's the link to the complete list of titles:

http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/studio.c ... tudioID=11

The sale runs through April 24.

oh, thanks! I've been going to get the other classic cartoon favorites. They are great for when my son wants to watch them and I like that they run shorter than the treasures since those are way too long to watch in a setting. The Funny Factory ones are on the list, too.

feedback on deep discount dvd?

Post by goofyestes »

Sorry if I'm not supposed to post this, but I figured it was okay because there is another post about them on this board. Can anyone provide feedback for deep discount dvd store? I've never ordered from them before.
Thanks!
Niki :)

Most of the time, their free shipping can take a while, but I've never had any problems with them other than that. This makes their $5.99 sale pretty attractive, even for someone who probably has more than enough Disney DVDs already (me).

I'm going to merge the threads, though.

This is my experience as well.

Me too. I've never had a problem with a DVD I've bought from them (I've made about 10 orders totaling about 25 movies and 8 TV box sets in the past 2 years).

I just noticed something very wierd. Does Amazon have some kind of a connection with DeepDiscountDVD? The reason I ask is that every single title on the $5.99 sale at DDD is full retail price at Amazon right now. That's right titles that are normally 9.99 to 12.99 at Amazon have been jacked up to $14.99. So I wondered if the two things were somehow related.

I've ordered many items from DeepDiscountDVD.com and their sister site for cd's, and I've never had any problems. Items usually arrive in about a week and a half...maybe two weeks tops in rare cases, but for the prices, I haven't found a better service.

I have had no problems with DDD. This sale should prove quite useful. (Well, until my VIP status comes through on the DMC... someday.)

It's not just the ones on sale at DDD. Every single Disney (or more accurately, BVHE) title (except Narnia) jumped to full SRP at Amazon the weekend before last. Since the Narnia DVDs were released, they too have joined the full list price lot. It's puzzling and would appear to be a serious threat to this site's existence/maintenance, or at least require a vast amount of work to reformat all of the pages that are currently linking to Amazon. I do hope they'll stop doing this, whatever their reasons are.

Although I've had at least one bad experience with DDD in the past, I've had several good ones and the chance to pass up some missing gems from my collection - Escape to Witch Mountain, Apple Dumpling etc - seems to good to miss at $5.99.

Might have to dust off the recently paid-off credit card :)

I've only used DDD once, but very recently. I got the Ducktales vol. 1 set for about $11 cheaper than retail and it only took maybe 5 business days to get to me. That was with the free shipping as well. I know that all depends on where you live, but I was pleased with the free shipping taking that little time.

Disney has only Narnia (CE - #2, WS - #5, FS - #12) and Chicken Little (#25) in Amazon's Top 25 DVD sellers. That's not very good, and the ultra-high prices are the only reasonable explanation. Since when did Amazon become the Barnes & Noble of Disney DVDs?

I've always had great experiences with DDDVD. Most of the time their prices are a few pennies lower than Amazon's, but with their free shipping not limited to a $25 purchase, it's worth throwing business their way. It seems now that there's a huge price discrepancy between the two sites. I bought 5 discs today for less than $30. Too bad I already bought some of the more popular titles on the list (Apple Dumpling Gang, Absent-Minded Prof., etc.) at Costco for $8.99 each.

I made up a basket last night and am yet to order. However, those titles you mentioned specifically are all the ones that are "currently out of stock" according to DDD (at least that's what it says in my basket). I added about ten titles for (naturally) under $60, which is kind of awesome. Will probably order if shipping down here is relatively cheap. I doubt the free shipping applies internationally. Also, I hope that the out of stock items ship, and if they do, they ship at the same price.

They always have shipped backordered items to me at the same price. I don't think they have a right to adjust the price once your order is placed.

You are probably right. I'm just deciding which ones I want, then I'll go ahead and order. Some great deals. Even the Goof Troop and 'Best of MMC' titles are ok at $6 each.

Oh, and I've only ever ordered single items from DDD - do they tend to ship all at once, or hold your backorder until everything arrives? And do they charge for the lot up front?

From what I'm told, they ship as they are available. With that in mind, I placed an order for 6 titles tonight, 2 of which are currently out of stock.

Yes, they ship as available, and it's all free (assuming you select free shipping at checkout).

Within a day, 8 out of my 10 DVDs ordered were shipped. The other two weren't marked as out of stock when I ordered them, but apparently, they are now. I'm glad they split it up accordingly, of course. Much easier than ordering things individually just because US shipping is free.
