Toy Story 2?

Post by TishaMoon »

I just joined the club back in December, and I loved the idea at first. My sign up offer was awesome. I got 5 DVDs for a total of $33. However, I have yet to buy any more of the 4 toward my commitment. The thing that really frustrates me is the amount of time it takes them to offer Disney's new releases. I'm waiting for Lady & the Tramp (maybe next month's featured title?), but I also can't figure out why it's taking them so long to offer Toy Story 2. It came out nearly 3 months ago. Does it often take this long for new titles to come to the club?

It just drives me crazy every time I go to Disneyland and see all these movies I want for sale but I have to make myself wait.

I was also surprised that Toy Story 2 wasn't in the club yet. I know there's usually a lag, but can't remember how long it is.

What I do is buy new releases at Best Buy or some other retailer the first week they come out. They are usually the cheapest then, and much cheaper than you can buy them in the club.

I have used the club for the discounts they offer each month (depending on how good they are), for the deals (such as 3 for $30 or something like that) and for DVDs that I have a hard time finding elsewhere. I bought The Emperor's New Groove CE and Atlantis CE for great prices through DMC and both counted towards my commitment. You have a full two years to fulfill your commitment and there are hundreds of DVDs to choose from.

Personally I buy DVDs for the cheapest I can find them and use DMC as a supplement. When Toy Story 2 and Lady and the Tramp are released they will most likely be at much higher prices than you could find they day they were released (even if they do come with a freebie- which I would guess LATT would... of course almost all retailers offered it for under $20 WITH a freebie on the first day of release anyway).

I have one commitment left and have been in the club almost a year. Including shipping fees and my initial signup deal, I've spent $122 on 12 DVDs- about an average of $10 a DVD incl 4 commitment titles. My advice is to buy new titles as they are released in stores and use the club for other, more hard to find titles. This way you get the best deal and you don't have to make yourself wait.

Thanks for your reply. I'm using the club to start my personal Disney DVD collection. I'm 22 and live at home, but will be moving out within a year. My family owns just about all Disney movies on VHS, but I wanted them for myself to take with me. So the 5 movies I got for my start up deal are the only 5 I own!

It seems that you've gotten a very good deal on the movies you've chosen through the club. I have noticed that the movie club's prices are more than in stores, especially on Pixar movies, but I'd really like to complete my commitment ASAP. I personally don't find the prices worth it unless it's a 2 disc DVD, so I'm waiting to have a few I want.

Then there's always the decision about whether to take really good deals, like a while ago I got buy 2 and get the rest 50% off (which I was planning to use, but while I was still decided what to buy it expired  ), or just to buy more at regular price to meet my commitment faster. :?

Disney actually has a contract with all retail stores that enables places like Target and Best Buy or wherever to try and sell the movies first. The Movie Club will usually get them anywhere from 2-4 months after they have been released.

For example, the Club won't have Lady and the Tramp until June. And Chicken Little will be after that.

There is usually some sort of compensation offered to the members for waiting.. such a free lithograph or collectible 3-D card when accepting the Feature Titles.

As for Toy Story 2, that one will probably never be in the club. It's not scheduled to be a feature title this year.. and there are absolutely no dates as to when / if that one will be offered. Your best bet would be to purchase it at a store, if you haven't already, before it goes into the vault.

Wow, Lady & the Tramp in JUNE? :o I was hoping it would be next month's featured title. I guess that's wishful thinking. I should probably just get it on Amazon for $15.

Except that it just went up to $29.99 on Amazon a couple of days ago. :(

Does anyone know the featured title list for 2006? I didn't buy Lady and don't plan to buy Narnia until the DMC gets them. I want to collect all of the 3-D cards but I won't wait too long for Narnia :P

The next one is scheduled to be Kronk's New Groove. After that it's either Lady and the Tramp or Valiant.
Let's be nothing. I heard it lasts forever.

I noticed that. Too bad. Maybe I'll wait for it on the club now. Hopefully it'll be the next one. I was really disappointed to see Kronk's New Groove this month. Why do they always have their direct to video sequels as featured titles?

Toy story 2 is now available for new joining members only this month and will most likely in the club for current members next month.

That's what I do as well.
