Which Disney Afternoon Show Do You Want Next On DVD?
Like probably a good number of you, I was ecstatic to see that two beloved cartoons from my youth, Ducktales and Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers, were at long last getting compilation-style DVD releases. Now the proud owner of both volume 1 sets, I can say that even though I'm disappointed at the lack of special features on either collection, I'm still very glad to have them and be able to watch them again.
Alas, though, there is so much more I'd like to see! I'm hotly anticipating the release of several other classic Disney Afternoon 'toons to DVD that I haven't seen in a long time, at least since Toon Disney either stopped running them or relegated them to ridiculous time slots.
Most of all, I can't wait for a Talespin DVD release. This show, perhaps more so that the others, was very unique in its stylishness and ability to make both gripping and humorous stories work. The settings - even cold, bleak Thembria - were always colorful and exotic, the characters were top-notch, and the stories almost always unique and exciting.
That's the show I'M most looking forward to...how about you folks? Which beloved 'toon do YOU want to see next in your collection?

"Gummi Bears" and "TaleSpin" would both be good choices. I wish that Disney would eventually treat "The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" to box set DVDs with original opening credits restored. "Timon & Pumbaa" and "The Wuzzles" are two others I would be glad to see because I never really saw any of either, despite The Lion King being an all-time favorite. And, of course, for Netty, "House of Mouse" would be good. Honestly, just looking back over our list, I don't think there are any shows I wouldn't be happy to see, as none of them are accessible to me, not having digital cable. Some I'd be less thrilled for ("Teamo Supremo", "Fillmore!", "Mighty Ducks", "Bonkers", and a few others don't interest me too much), but on the whole, I wish Disney would give us more TV shows on box sets, even if they're minimal effort deals like last November's.

Darkwing Duck is coming to DVD this year, so you can take that one of the poll.
As for me, after DD, I would love to see "Timon and Pumbaa" come to DVD!
(unless you couldn't tell by the name)
I also think Buzz Lightear should come to DVD at some point! An INCREDIBLY underrated show!
And of course, Tail Spin!

"Gummi Bears" is at the top of my list, with "Aladdin," "TaleSpin," "Darkwing Duck," and "The Little Mermaid" all close behind.

Oops, I forgot about the New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh which ran on network TV about the same time as the others.
I think it was a Saturday morning show that ran on ABC instead of during the Disney Afternoon lineup on Fox on the weekdays, if I recall correctly, which is probably why it didn't come right to my mind at first.
I liked that show a lot too, but my mom is actually a (much) bigger Winnie the Pooh fan than me, so if the show ever came out on DVD I'd probably buy it for her

Gummi Bears, Thw Wuzzles and The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh should have DVD sets before Darkwing Duck, Tale Spin and Goof Troop.
Gummi Bears, The Wuzzles and The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh should get them becaues they are the reason why we had a Disney Afternoon. Hopefully Disney will reason them soon or next year.

Definitely Gummi Bears and TaleSpin... All the other shows (assuming the DuckTales volumes continue to come out) I could take or leave. DuckTales, TaleSpin and Gummi Bears were the three Disney shows I watched all the time when I was younger (along with Rescue Rangers, but not as much that one). I love sharing DuckTales with my 14-month-old daughter, and I would love to show her Gummi Bears. And since The Jungle Book is one of my all-time favorite animated classics (it's a tie between Jungle Book, Robin Hood, and Aladdin), I just really loved TaleSpin.
I wonder how well they'd hold up after all these years...

I would probably say House of Mouse. The material in there was closer to classic Disney material in terms of form than other Disney shows, so that makes it special, but I also like the novelty of seeing classic Disney characters all congregating together in a Who Framed Roger Rabbit like way. After that, I'd vote for Gummi Bears and The Little Mermaid series.

Out of the ones mentioned, I'd say Tail Spin. It was always one I rushed home to see, and have fond memories of it.
I'm torn though: I'd love to see proper Winnie the Pooh sets, rather than the single volumes that Region 4, Region 2 and now Region 1 have been afflicted with. They aren't too bad actually - more consistent than the Disney Princess stuff, but still nowhere need complete (only one set of credits, for example).
I'd also really like to see some of the movie-based shows - Mermaid, Aladdin, Timon & Pumba - released on DVD. There are three volumes of T & P here (although one was an exclusive sold with Aladdin that K-Mart accidentally sold separately), but that's not enough really. Lilo & Stitch would be the one I crave the most, simply because I love the movies, and the TV show was in the spirit of the films. More so, I think, than any of the other related series. It would also be an obvious choice given that the forthcoming Leroy & Stitch is said to wrap up that series.
House of Mouse is a MUST release, I think.

Of course, here's hoping for continued release of the Ducktales and CDRR sets. Releasing the last volume of CDRR and the last few volumes of Ducktales would seem a no-brainer, but you never know...
If you haven't bought the first sets yet and want them, be sure to go out and buy them! Disney needs to know how much we want our 'toons on DVD!

I'd hope for Darkwing Duck most, then TaleSpin.
And, of course, the completion of Ducktales and Chip 'N Dale would be great (you'd think it'd be common sense for Disney to release, but they don't seem to have alot of that these days).
Also, I'd like to see them release the first three seasons of Digimon on DVD sometime. God knows why they bought the rights in the first place, but now they have, I really wish they'd actually do something with the show.

Has there been an official press release with an estimated street date yet? I Googled "darkwing duck dvd" and didn't find much beyond an announcement that Disney was working on the set and that it was expected soon.Timon/Pumba fan wrote:Darkwing Duck is coming to DVD this year, so you can take that one of the poll.
Perhaps if Disney is putting off the set until late this year, they might also release another show on DVD at the same time, such as with the Ducktales - CDRR release. And here's hoping that whatever they end up releasing next won't get the "greatest hits" treatment with a few random episodes on one disc.

No press release, but it looks like it's definitely coming this year.

Oh man Disney afternoon that rocked. I miss those days so much. My vote went for Talespin although if this were a perfect world. I would hope that both Gummi bears and Talespin would come out @ the same time. Just like Ducktales and Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers.
A bit more more modern I would love to see Aladdin and the Little Mermaid on box sets. (Those were some of my favorites too)
And well I would say Goof Troop but after the pathetic Voulme one Relase it got this year with 3 episdoes I dont have much hope.
