Epcot Disney Characters???
Hey everyone!
I have an odd question. Does anyone have any clipart of the main Disney characters (Mickey, Minnie Goofy, etc.) dressed in clothes representing the countries around Epcot. I know in 1994 they had happy meal toys that did this, but i'm looking for clipart that i could print out.
Thanks for all your help in advance!

This is you. This is your badness level. It's unusually high for someone your size. We need to fix that.

I don't believe I have ever seen the basic characters in the World Showcase. They generally stand in between Future World and the World Showcase. The only characters in the World Showcase are people like Mulan and Jasmine. Sorry about that. I could be wrong but I personally have never seen them in the countries.

Years ago, you could meet some of the 'classic' characters like the Fab 5 around the World Showcase dressed up to fit the culture of the pavilions they were in, but they don't do that anymore.MichaeLeah wrote:I don't believe I have ever seen the basic characters in the World Showcase. To the author of the thread...I remember the Happy Meal promotion you're talking about, but I haven't found any clip art from it. If I find anything, I'lll post links here.

the first time i went to Epcot was in 1998 and Donald was in Mexico dressed in his 3 Caballeros outfit.
But as for the happy meal toys- i THINK that will be the only way you will see them dressed like that-is the toys but I'm not sure. I dont think/ or have ever seen the characters dressed up in the countries "native" clothes like in the toys w/ the exception of Donald.
But you can however find the characters in the countries that the movie takes place in (all of the characters listed below I have seen in the countries from 98-present):
~Aladdin characters in Morroco
~Kenai & Koda in Canada
~Belle & Beast (& used to be Cinderella characters & Hunchback characters- but i dont think so anymore) in France
~The Alice in Wonderland gang, Pooh Crew, Mary Poppins/Bert, Robin Hood characters & Peter Pan characters in England
~Pinocchio characters in Italy
~Princess Aurora/Ariel (w/ legs) in Norway
~Snow White & Dwarfs in Germany
~Terk/Timon/Jane/Rafiki at The Outpost
~Mickey & the gang/Pocahontas in USA
~Mulan/Mushu/Shang in China
~Nemo outside Living Seas
~Figment outside Imagination Pavillion
~Mickey & Goofy outside Mission Space
~Goofy outside Body Wars
~Goofy doning beachwear & boombox at the jumping fountains by the giant fountain
~3 Caballeros Donald in Mexico (I dont think he is there anymore)
But the characters also go around the country pavillions throughout the day on a double decker bus on "holiday" & do meet & greets.
Back in the day the Pooh Crew used to meet & greet in Electric Umbrella too and Mickey & friends would meet & greet next to Mouse Gear.
Now there is a Character Meet & Greet building right behind the Fountain Cafe.

I met him there in 2000.Fidget1234 wrote:the first time i went to Epcot was in 1998 and Donald was in Mexico dressed in his 3 Caballeros outfit.
I think there was once an Uncle Sam Mickey, though I'm not sure, and Minnie wore a Japanese kimono at least once in her life; I've seen footage of Japanese Minnie on some older vacation planning videos. Doesn't mean she was easy to find, but she did this at one point! But as for the happy meal toys- i THINK that will be the only way you will see them dressed like that-is the toys but I'm not sure. Ooh, great list of Epcot characters! You certainly have encompassed just about everyone that I've ever seen there since 1998, too. Some of the characters no longer appear there anymore (at least with any regularity), but a LOT of those characters are still there and you've also given me a nice rememberance of past character meetings at Epcot, and made me miss the park a lot. It was where I worked on the college program.
One major change to the character schedule...
The Disney Characters on Holiday Bus has driven into the world of extinct attractions. But the characters also go around the country pavillions throughout the day on a double decker bus on "holiday" & do meet & greets.

ok, no more bus. but character connection is pretty cool still even it if cuts the meet & greets to five. some of those characters are still in the country pavillions. this past trip in March i saw Belle & Beast, alice, mary, mulan, mushu, pinocchio, gepetto, jasmine & aurora, snow white all out in their native pavillions. Belle & Beast have their own spot inside one of the buildings w/ a stained glass background similar to the opening sequence of the movie- but the rest were all out in plain sight. So there are quite a few still there
at the character
connection place i did see Rafiki in the window- but that is it.
i have seen the minnie dressed in komono too from an old add. the new add has her in tokyo disneyland dressed like that. but havent seen her ever in that outfit.

Do they still sell actual plush toys in Epcot with characters dressed up in different international outfits? Back in the '90s I bought a Beefeater Mickey, a Statue of Liberty Minnie, and a Mexican Donald, and there were lots of other cool ones, such as Chip and Dale in Chinese gear and Goofy dressed up like a Viking
But still, I like the idea of having the walk-around characters in each pavilion represent their regions/cultures of origin...although my parents were confused a bit as to why Pinocchio was walking around Italy (they aren't too savvy as to where each movie's original story came from).

Yup, the countries are still one of my FAVORITE places to go for characters.Fidget1234 wrote:ok, no more bus. but character connection is pretty cool still even it if cuts the meet & greets to five. some of those characters are still in the country pavillions. this past trip in March i saw Belle & Beast, alice, mary, mulan, mushu, pinocchio, gepetto, jasmine & aurora, snow white all out in their native pavillions. I'm glad you got to see Belle and the Beast in their stained-glass 'library;' I love the indoor themed rooms that they have in the pavilions, but they frequently will all be outside if the weather permits...France is tricky, because they tell you WHEN the characters will be there, but sometimes they're in the room (I've met Aurora in that room too; Belle stood in front of the BatB stained glass windows and Aurora stood by the opposite wall), sometimes they're in the little courtyard if you leave the stained glass room and turn right, and sometimes they're by the crepe stands and practcially in Morocco. The UK characters have a room in the Toy Soldier shop, and in the back of Morocco, near the entrance to Restaurant Marrakesh, the Aladdin characters have a room that's themed to look like Agrabah. You can pose with them in front of a mural of the city.
It's awesome that the Pinocchio characters were out too; I never seemed to find them as much as some of the other ones you listed. Were Koda and Kenai still in Canada? I'd seen them a lot as recently as January. (I miss being there so much and feeling on top of what went on there!)
Character Connection is great; depending on the crowds, sometimes they have a lot more characters in there; I once met 9 or 10 in there. It's worth checking out at different times of the day; you can find a lot of people, even if it is a little random to have Donald Duck next to Captain Hook. LOL.

I love finding characters in Epcot! It's so nice to see them in their native countries or in the fab five's case in new costumes. I guess its kind of educational, teaching kids about the origins of the characters stories. Though I'm not quite sure why Ariel and Aurora are in Norway. I know they have that new Princess Breakfast at Restaurant Akershus or whatever. Are they also there as meet and greet?
In an old park map of Epcot, there's a picture of Mickey dressed as one of those ranger guys (the guys in red like Dudley Do-Right) for Canada.
Also in France, by the little courtyard near the bridge, we saw Mickey, Donald, and Goofy as the Three Musketeers. It might've been because that was the day their movie premiered. I don't know if they still make appearances as the Three Musketeers.

Yeah, we found that room too after going through the perfume store. It was quite funny because we didn't realize what it was until we saw Beast sitting on the ledge. I thought he was just a giant stuffed thing since I've never seen Beast character live before. It was funny because I think he realized that so as we got closer he just stayed perfectly still and then playfully spooked us, hehehe. It was a nice surprise to discover him there. I wonder where Belle was, though.Disney Princess Ariellen wrote:I'm glad you got to see Belle and the Beast in their stained-glass 'library;' I love the indoor themed rooms that they have in the pavilions, but they frequently will all be outside if the weather permits...France is tricky, because they tell you WHEN the characters will be there, but sometimes they're in the room (I've met Aurora in that room too; Belle stood in front of the BatB stained glass windows and Aurora stood by the opposite wall), sometimes they're in the little courtyard if you leave the stained glass room and turn right, and sometimes they're by the crepe stands and practcially in Morocco.

I remember that!! That was my favorite Happy Meal box and set as a kid! I got Mexico Donald and my sister got Japan Minnie. It's a shame they only show the one side of the box. I think the other side of the box had Germany Daisy and Chip N Dale.Disney Princess Ariellen wrote:Found a few links with some images of that promotion...no clip art, but here's a Happy Meal box...

No, they're just at the Princess dining; Aurora's usually there at breakfast and dinner, Ariel is usually there at dinner and sometimes lunch, from what an entertainment manager in that area told me. The restaurant is the only place to find Ariel in Epcot; Aurora does meet and greets in France when she's not meeting diners in Norway.Kram Nebuer wrote:Though I'm not quite sure why Ariel and Aurora are in Norway. Haha, that's awesome! Belle must have been too busy reading or something. It was funny because I think he realized that so as we got closer he just stayed perfectly still and then playfully spooked us, hehehe. It was a nice surprise to discover him there. I wonder where Belle was, though.

I love when characters are in groups...on my college program, I got a picture with all Seven Dwarfs at MK! It was amazing.

Re: Ariel in Norway. You know, although it seems as if she's just there as part of a princess tour deal, it might actually make sense to have her there regularly. After all, The Little Mermaid's country of origin is Denmark (Hans Christian Andersen), which had a few cultural crossovers with the Norse back in the Viking era. A stretch, perhaps, but then again so is having Jasmine and Aladdin in Morocco when their story originated in Arabia and originally took place in China
