Wishes! Fireworks Show From WDW

Post by musicradio77 »

Several months ago, You had just watch the fireworks show from Disneyland entitled "Remember Dreams Come True". I found this entire film courtesy of Internet Archive is the entire show of "Wishes!" as originally took place on December 17th, 2005 at Disney World. The entire show features Jiminy Cricket as the host of "Wishes!", the Disneyland version also features Julie Andrews as the host and ambassador for the "Remember Dreams Come True" fireworks show. Those were two different shows, the entire show, same thing. Here is the entire film.

By the way, the show features a couple of passporters from other places. Enjoy!

Im sorry. I do not understand what you are saying. Are you saying that both shows are the same? Because they are not.

WDW's Wishes lasts a little over ten minutes, and Disneyland (while it does use less than 2 minutes of Wishes soundtrack) lasts for about 17 minutes (and is much more impressive).

Believe me, you're not alone there!

And as dizfan said, the two fireworks are NOT the same. "Wishes" is an entirely original fireworks spectacular, while "Remember, Dreams Comes True" is completely different (though they do use several pieces of music from "Wishes".

I saw RDCT from afar at Downtown Disney, and the fireworks are pretty impressive, but since I've seen Wishes many more times, I'm more partial to that than RDCT.

I've seen both on video and they are amazing displays! I especially like "Remember Dreams Come True". The whole "surrounding" fireworks effects blew my mind. But to be honest, I still think both don't hold a candle to the amazing Reflections of Earth display. The score, the synchronizing fireworks, the location. All put to perfect use, and as a result make for a better show.

That post confused me, too...

Agreed. I think that "Remember...Dreams Come True" is the best fireworks display ever.

Walt Disney World's Wishes! made me cry like a small child.

The whole experience was probably intesified with the fact that it was my first time ever at WDW, but, I remember everytime the song "Wishes" played, and the little girl sang, I just welled up.

When I first saw Wishes, I though that was the best fireworks display in the world. Narration and amazing fireworks, Disney couldn't top themselves right?

I was wrong.

I got to see "Remember Dreams Come True" and I was amazed. The soundtrack was amazing, along with all the lighting effects on the castle and the Matterhorn. The background fireworks also makes a huge difference.

One problem with Wishes is that it's hard to get a good vision of it somewhere. The same can't be said for RDCT. As long as you're near the castle, you'll get a great view!

But Wishes is still great, I love the story-line.

As for Reflections of Earth(a.k.a Illuminations) that's got to get the title for the most overrated fireworks display ever. I don't know, I was expecting a great selection of fireworks, but instead I got a globe in the center of a big lake and a bunch of lame "shooting" fireworks

I was extremely unimpressed with Disney on that show.

It's not as overrated as Fantasmic though.

As everyone says, different strokes for different folks... But you seem to be forgetting other aspects of the show. What about the beautiful score? That is, by the way, perfectly in-sync with the show itself (something that's tough to do when using music from movies). No show other than that has achieved such an effective use of music. Also, what about the surrounding area which is also a part of the show. I clearly remeber a part showing the whole park glow up from different sides. The beautiful location, the spreading of the fireworks across the lake... Still think it's overrated? The cutting edge technology used on the globe, the great song "We Go On". The originality of the show, which gives a breath of fresh air among all the synergy inspired shows (yes, even Wishes at the end of the day is one big promotion for those lovely Disney classics)... It's not hard to see why it's rated so highly among people.

I agree, DisneyFan 2000. I completely respect Timon/Pumba Fan's opinion (and anyone else who doesn't like RoE). I don't particularly LOVE Wishes...I enjoy it, think it's a very good show, and sometimes it does make me tear up a bit, but I wasn't as 'wowed' by it as most people I know. To each his or her own. :)

But DisneyFan, you really hit what I love about Reflections of Earth...it's moving and so original; I like that it's a completely different sort of show, independent of the films and characters, I love the message of it, and I think the music is absolutely wonderful. I watched it an average of 5 nights a week for a little over 7 months while on my college program and never got at all tired of it. I do think Timon/Pumba Fan makes a really good point about the globe and that the fireworks themselves aren't as 'big' as some of the other shows; perfect example of how it all boils down to your own tastes. (If you like really flashy fireworks and don't mind crowds, I will say that the Holiday tag of IllumiNations that played from the Day after Thanksgiving until New Years Eve was VERY impressive on that level, and the New Years Eve midnight show was amazing and huge, too...perimeter fireworks around World Showcase!)

MousePlanet.com ran a blurb saying that it sounds almost certain that Epcot will be getting a new fireworks show for it's 25th anniversary next year...still not a CONFIRMED rumor, but I'd heard a lot of buzz to that effect while I was down there...I'll be sad to see Reflections of Earth leave, but hopefully they'll bring in something else wonderful.

And we should all be glad that not all of us likes all the same shows...imagine what that would do to the crowds! :P

"Wishes" really is an A+ show. Prior to it, I hadn't been overly impressed with programs like "Fantasy in the Sky" and some of its predecessors, where a large part of the allure was just the castle backdrop. "Wishes," however, is an amazing and moving production that I hope sticks around for awhile. Before "Wishes," "IllumiNations" was WDW's best fireworks show, but while it's still great, I think "Wishes" tops it. But then, "Sorcery in the Sky" at MGM is really cool... too bad it's so rarely displayed. I really want to see RDCT at DL as well.

Well as I said, I was execting a fireworks extravaganza. I didn't pay too much attention to the score so that could be a reason. Maybe I need to see it again.

As for the fireworks themselves(the part I was looking forward too)I didn't like it at all. Sorry, we all have different opinions, like you said. :)

But in my "The Most Overrated Disney Theme Park Attraction" thread you wrote
AwallaceUNC wrote: I do think Wishes is almost on par with Illuminations (which is a first for Magic Kingdom... at least that I've seen). But it's strength is in experience- the music and all that is great in Wishes. I think that the actual fireworks themselves in IllumiNATIONS are superior... and the whole globe on fire thing is great!
:P

But currently, I agree with you. I guess in the end, Illuminations isn't THAT bad, but the fireworks were totally boring and overrated. I couldn't see what the hype was about. I just don't like them at all. Wishes, however, was the complete opposite.

Sorry if anyone disagrees! :)

Oh and you should see RDCT! It rocks!!!
