Human Again vs Morning Report plus Sleeping Beauty info

Post by Ric-Mx »

Since I got my copy of The Lion King (October 10th) I've been wanting to say this...

THE MORNING REPORT SEQUENCE HAS NO SENSE!!!
why did they made it???
It's less funnier than the original sequence where they don't sing...
It doesn't add anything good to the movie...
it's a piece of $|°#!!!
(sorry... i think it's horrible)

unlike...

HUMAN AGAIN
I watched Beauty and the Beast again and I see I really like this part in any language. the song is well done and it was meant to be on the movie.
It adds something good to the movie (although it was good without it)...

During the firt week of October I got a copy of Sleeping Beauty Special Edition R1... I really liked the package and everything!

The Widescreen video transfer is a different transfer from my R4 copy!!!
This transfer looks a lot better... I mean it, it's easy noticeable.
Plus Audio Commentary...

The "No Secrets" music video it's a nice addition. It p a good pop version and I don't see why some of you dislike this extra feature.

The galleries are the same but the R1 has a guided tour.

I mean... Sleeping Beauty Special Edition R1 it's THE BEST release worldwide (of this movie) and it's the one that comes closer to Snow White Platinum Edition quality....

I'm so happy about it... still I'm keeping my R4 copy because it's the only way to watch the widescreen version with Spanish track...

I'm not so happy with the Lion King DVD, R1 and R4 are identical (except for the Spanish track instead of French), but the extras are someway poor... the menus are tricky and each one shows almost the same features... the Lion King it's the worst special edition I own...

Still the movie looks amazing!
I like some changes like the waterfalls... not the cocodriles or the castle intro...
It's a good release... but if you consider Disney releases this titles every 7 or 10 years you can't forgive not to get a Snow White kind of DVD release.

I'll wait for R4 Cinderella rumored for 2004...
But then I'll wait for it's R1 Platinum Edition hoping it'll be a little better...

About the Slip off Packages...
Does Beauty and the Beast and the Lion King Region 1 come with a slip off box that mirrors the case like the one with Sleeping Beauty????

Well, I too prefer Human Again over Morning Report. MR looks, well, forced. Human Again just seems to flow much better within the framework of the story.

I can't remember ... was Morning Report originally done and the scrapped or was it something new to add in for novelty's sake?

Novelty's sake. The song is from the Broadway musical, but it wasn't written for the film and then cut like with Human Again. Although I think MR fits into TLK better animation-wise than HA in B&tB, HA is a MUCH better song and fits into its film better from a story perspective.

As for TLK's actual DVD, I thought it was good, but not great. I agree that it's the the weakest of Disney's multi-disc sets, but perhaps my expectations were extremely low after all the (non) hype because I thought disc 2 was decent. Sure there was a lot of fluff and the menus were of Satan, but there WAS substantial content to be found here and there, especially in the Glendale section of North America.

It was originally done and then scrapped ;) I only saw the Morning Report out of these but I only want to say something about TMR. If you ever listened to the theatrical version of TMR you will hear that it is WAAAAY better than the version in TLK. I mean, in the movie all the sentences are taken appart and it doesn't blend into each other. I can sing along with the theatrical version but I really can't with the movie version. Anyway I think the animations were done great and blend into the movie, I'm only not too sure about the song. It isn't like any other songs in the movie! In "The Making of The Morning Report" they say they added african vocals to it. Has anyone heard these?

"Human Again" was a wonderful song, a seamless addition that definitely enhanced the film.

Whereas "Morning Report" is a boring, tuneless song that adds nothing except a few more gags. I mean, they didn't even give it its own section; they buried most of it behind the current scene!

Actually, Disneykid's right, Jens. There never was any real development done on MR during film production, beyond brainstorming for song ideas. They wrote the song for the play, then (very clumsily) incorporated it into the film. Why? To sell more units with a "New Stuff!" sticker, that's why!!

Hey sorry Paka, I Just was confused if it was the sound that was made before or the animations. Anyway, I have the dutch TLK DVD with english and dutch on it and I really prefer the english version. The dutch version is more smooth but the voice of simba is like a baby singing! And Zazu is singing waaaay too loud. The normal scene without the singing was funnier and it fitted!

Gotta love that search button!

Anyway, I decided to look for this topic cause I was humming Human Again, hehe. I, personally, love it! Its hard for me to imagine Beauty and the Beast without it now. I hope that they include it on every release from now on, cause if they dont, the Platinum Edition is a true treasure!!

As for Morning Report... I remember being excited to watch it when I first got the PE, and after watching it... well... its just not up to par with Human Again. It doesnt fit in as smoothly. Its been a long time since Ive seen MR, but Im pretty sure another viewing will help it much in my eyes.

Another big reason why I love HA is cause it gives us more of Wardrobe!!!
I'll wear lipstick and rouge, and I wont be so HUGE!

I LOVE that line!! And I love Wardrobe!! Im just bummed out that we dont get to see her as a human in the end. And its too bad she wasnt in Enchanted Christams (or was she?) I dont know about Belle's Magical World cause Ive never seen it.

Anywho, I totally love Human Again and Im so glad they added it in the movie!!! :D

I agree! Wardrobe was one of my favorite small characters from Beauty and the Beast and when Human Again was added into the film it gave her a much larger part that before, and I was pleased. I love the song and find myself singing it quite often. I feel that Human Again flows well into the movie and I like its presence on the Platinum Edition. I think both songs are a fun new element to the original movie. And if you don't like them, you can just watch the movie without them.... it's simple!

The wardrobe has a big part in the stage show, almost on a par with Mrs. Potts, Lumiere and Cogsworth.

The closest Ive seen to it is the show they put on in MGM. And theres no Wardrobe there. :(

If The Lion King special edition wanted a new song sequence that actually would be nice into the movie, then Shadowland or Where the Starlight gone is the BEST choice. both are powerful songs. and if animated would blow me away. hearing Nala sing solo would be nice too for Shadowland.

Human again is neat and good.

As for SB special edition dvd, i wish I have gotten that dvd. to bad it went bad to the damn vault. hopefully the paltinum edition comes soon.

I have to agree, though I don't really care.... Actually, when I saw "Human Again," it took me a second to remember that it wasn't in the original film. "Morning Report" was a little obvious.....

As a whole The Lion king platinum Edition to me is a huge disater. The "morning Report " song was horrible specially since the voices didn't match the originals, like Beauty and The Beast did. I could do without either of the added songs, since the reason I liked both these films was because of how they orignally were.

Human Again was suppose to be in the original as it was made for the original but couldn't due to time. so in a way it's original.

How does James Earl Jones' voice not match his own orignal voice? As for young Simba, well Taylor Thomas was getting older so he doesn't have that cuter voice he did when he was a kid. so that HAD to replace a new kid.

Again, Morining Report was a poor choice if they want to do a new singing scene. Shadlowland and/or Where the Starlight Gone is a much more fitting and better choice for the movie.

All I can say is echo, echo, echo to everything that has been said. I would have rather see a colorized- final version of 'music in my soup'on the Snow White PE. The truly Platinum idea was to restore a song that meant something, yet was cut for some reason or another. With Lion King, they tried to duplicate the hype, but had nothing to restore, hence the addition.

Human Again= awesomeness

Morning Report= terrible-ness

Fortunately you can watch the original version of the movie WITHOUT that terrible song. Simba's voice is completely different, way too "IN YOUR FACE", and sounds pretty much nothing like the original. The replacement for Zazu (Jeff Bennet I think? One of those great impersonators) at least SOUNDED somewhat like Zazu.

But yeah Human Again is great because it's all the original cast and everything and flows perfectly with the rest of the movie.

While we're on this subject I also liked "If I Never Knew You" from Pocahontas.
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.
