The Rescuers
I've noticed that most of the "The Rescuers" posts aren't really discussing the film, just arguing about Tangela's 'unnecessary posts' and the horrible DVD release.
How about we use this one to actually discuss the movie?
I saw it for the first time yesterday, and was really surprised. I was expecting along the lines of "Rescuers Down Under" in which the captured child was really the main character, and Bernard and Miss Bianca were just secondary. I'm really glad that in the original, all characters play second to the two mice!
But I really didn't like Orville-in the second film, Wilber is prominently displayed, and has lot of screen time. Orville, however, gets maybe 15 minutes, and so I really didn't like him very much.
And yes, the films feels dated in looks and music, but it's still very good. And every time Penny cries, i do to.

Hello Prince Adam,
I'm really glad you enjoyed "The Rescuers". It has to be one of Disney's best mouse movies yet. One thing though, in my opinion I like Orville better than Wilbur, he has a kind of different way to ba funny unlike Wilbur, anyway everyone has a different opinion. The animation in the Rescuers was a bit low and pretty choppy, but it was good due to its awsome storyline. What did you think of the DVD? (or did you see it on VHS?) I thought it was missing lots of things, like Trailers and stuff, the "UltimateCase" game was rather dull...
Anyway, I think I'll just have to wait till we get a better release soon.
Tangela,

Luke: Is this a good post or doesn't it have enough content?
:) :) :)

ACtually, I borrowed the old Black Diamond VHS from a friend of mine. And it's in near-perfect condition! I've never seena Black Diamond video in such good condition (mine all have faded spines and cracked cases).
But I think I'll ask for it for Christmas just to tie me over until the Special Edition comes out (and I mean WHEN, not IF, WHEN THE SE COMES OUT!!!!!)
I'm starting to understand why Tangela loves this movie so much! Penny is a forerunner for Lilo (the same attitude!), and the scene where she's adopted is very heartwarming. I cried so hard for this movie.
Oh, and Evinrude should defintely have been in "Down Under": can you imagine the scrapes he could have gotten into with Johanna in the sequel?

I love the "The Journey" opening sequence it is great, I love the music. It was a very interesting way to show the bottle's travel from Devil's Bayou to New York...Chernobog wrote:Well, the Rescuers is not a bad movie. When I was younger, I hated it, but now I think it's very interesting, specially by its characters animation. Must remark the MARVELOUS Madame Medusa.
And what do you think about the beautifulcredit titles made with just Mel Shaw's pastel drawings?

Ditto. The opening really seemed to say: "Hey, I'm a really funny movie, but I'm also going to make you cry like a baby!"Tangela wrote:I love the "The Journey" opening sequence it is great, I love the music.
