I've said it before, and I'll say it again: this looks to be the most comprehensive DVD Disney's done for a live-action film, let alone any film, period. I'm so happy that what has become my favorite live-action film from Disney is given the class-A royal treatment. I only wonder, though, if the other chronicles in the series will have as immersive features. If not, I'm at least glad that The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe will get the best DVD treatment since that's my favorite book in the series and will more than likely be my favorite in the film series. I just wish the release included trailers and art galleries, but at least we get the physical art portfolio and booklet. Why can't the Harry Potter movies receive this sort of treatment?

Look how nice that is! Man, that little picture just blew me away, IM IN. This will be the "spectacular blind-buy" for me this year.

Warner Brothers needs to learn from this and Peter Jackson's LOTR dvds and rerelease better DVDs for Harry Potter now.

It's a shame that is has been so long since we've been able to say that we are impressed by a Disney DVD. Even more impressive is the fact that most people seem to be happy with the disc content AND the art (so far...

).

I'm assuming that the commentaries count towards the "ten hours of bonus features", but that still leaves us with a whopping 5 hours worth of stuff to plough through. If that eventual extended cut comes around, will there be anything left to put on there?

Definitely an A for effort this time, Disney.

Wow, I hope this nice side of Disney keeps up. It's just a shame the Platinums don't recieve the same compliments, since they're supposed to be the 'elite' of Disney's DVDs. I also hope the Region 2 edition will have the same contents. The provided contents look to be amazing! Way above what any other company is releasing at the moment (minus King Kong).

I SO agree... there were 2 awesome trailers and a 10-minute preview that could have easily been included. Maybe they will be in anyway... or on that Extended edition Disney will undoubtedly release a month or so before Prince Caspian.... sigh.

Yep, I'm planning to get the 2-disk special edition!

I wonder what extra items might be offered by Best Buy and Walmart.

Incidentally, I purchased the Special Edition soundtrack. It has an extra DVD with the "Behind the Magic" featurettes you can watch from Apple Quicktime's movie trailers pg. I was going to buy the soundtrack anyway, and decided to go for the extras (There's also a booklet included.) and the NICE packaging!

It'll be nice to hear the young actors' raw reactions as they watched the completed film for the first time.

I had planned to pre-order the DVD set from Best Buy Online, but I'm having second thoughts: I'd rather be the one selecting as near-flawless a package as possible, instead of receiving a copy they pick up and set aside without any care.

I was going to bring this up as a topic! LOL - I must be getting to be a DVD-snob...because I'm the same way. I don't trust getting something I can't see before I purchase. As much as I hate running to the store every Tuesday...I would rather do it myself (and save on shipping in the meantime as well). I always pick from the back of their stock, too...so I don't get the one that's been handled 100 times already and has fingerprints all over the slipcover.

Glad I'm not alone.

This set looks amazing! The packaging looks awesome(even better than WFRR: Vista Series

) and the 2nd disc looks loaded with features! I'll be sure to buy this!

As for the rumored extended edition, I'll pass. I really want this film ASAP and there's nothing they could've added to make the film better IMO. I guess they could add more bonus features, but then again, how much do we really want to know on the making of one film?

So what ever happened to that "Adventures Through Narnia" DVD or whatever it was called? It was supposed to come out December 2005, but did they decide just to put the content in the 2-disc set? Also, will the set include those web featurettes that were discussed here?

No idea about Adventures Through Narnia, but I think the interview sessions and behind the scene footage we saw in the web featurettes will be used in these new DVD featurettes. Considering how lengthy everything on the DVD is, I think it'd be kind of hard (yet impressive) for them to completely avoid the stuff we saw in the web featurettes:

I'm kind of over the whole lack of trailers on a DVD. Yes, they make for a well rounded package, but anybody who is able to post on this site can just as readily download and view them. Plus, as Disney fans, we have them on just about every other Disney DVD we have bought in the last 6 months.

It's that bind isn't it: we want less marketing fluff on a DVD, but always demand the trailers be included?

Chances are, I won't watch ANY of the extras more than once, and the trailers even less. 99% of the time, I'd be just as happy with barebones if the movie is any good.

The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe will soon surpass Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire to become the second highest grossing film of 2005! It will likely occur by this weekend.

Yeah, it's currently just about $200,000 below Harry Potter in the U.S., but BoxOfficeMojo still hasn't updated HP's earnings for the weekend.

Anyway, the Narnia DVD is looking really great! My only complaints:
- No trailers or art galleries, although I wasn't really expecting them...
- The C.S. Lewis documentary is only 3 minutes and 50 seconds long.
- I'm going to be out of town the week of the 4th, so I have to wait until the 8th or 9th of April to purchase my own.

Me and my brother along with his girlfriend are going to the movies to see "The Chronicles of Narnia" tomorrow. I'm looking forward to see it before the DVD comes out in two months.
