VIP, is it worth it?

Post by singerguy04 »

what exactly are the specifics to this. all i've read is that there are greater savings, special promotions, and free offers. but to me that really means nothing. i want to know what exactly would be a example of these that i would be offered, and i'm not too sure how much more it'll cost me.

I just became a VIP and when I placed an order by phone the other day I was told I got free shipping because of it. And today in the mail I got a thing saying that I never need to pay shipping again on any order of 2 or movies plus got a code for a free movie when I buy one regular priced or the free VIP pin or the pin and collector case for $2.95. So I've noticed a little difference with VIP, but then again there all always free shipping codes and what not all the time so I guess it's not that much better.

Well I don't see the reason to cancel the account unless you just plain don't want to keep declining the featured titles (which isn't very hard to do anyway since they don't change very often).

If you just keep your account open you become a VIP and are allowed to still buy DMC exclusives or take advantage of whatever good deals are up at the moment. I'll be keeping it open to pick up good deals, but if there aren't any, ok I won't buy.

It's not like it costs anything more to be a VIP, so why not stick around and see what it's about?

I agree with Minnie, it's free and worth it just to keep the acct. A simply click on phone call is all it takes to reject your title. And actually I am very satisfied with the value of my membership. I never joined because of the prices, however when you factor in free shipping and discounts as high as 40%, it's cheaper than the stores. The only problem is waiting for them to release the title. Some I can wait (i.e. Treasures) and others (i.e. Lady and the Tramp, Narnia) I must have on release date ;) Overall the offers and exclusives like those awesome 3-D cards are great!

Are there any differences to the site when you go VIP? I completed my commitment and went VIP some time ago but have not noticed any difference. It says it takes 30 days for the status change to appear on the site, but it has been past that and I don't see any difference at all. Is VIP status reflected on the website?

Unfortunately the web site does not indicate your status, which it should! Call to confirm and/or double check your mailings for your status type.

Ooops, I just re-read the DMC site and it says "Your VIP membership will start 30 days from the day you fulfill your current Disney Movie Club membership agreement."

For some reason I read and interpreted that wrong. I'm sorry.

Besides the 3D cars, can someone elaborate on these DMC "exclusives" ???

You know I mentioned in another thread, a good use of DMC if the title you want are showing up is to buy some titles on sale and use them as gifts. I've got young kids so we are always celebrating one of their friends birthday parties. Everyone may just start getting Disney DVDs as gifts for the next year or so? :) It's really a great gift idea even for adults!

By exclusives they mean titles that are not found in stores -- not the animated classics like Snow White -- but older, really hard to find movies.

VIPs also have a chance to buy pins. A lot of members go crazy for them.. they're highly collectible. Also lithographs.

Nothing TOO major, but if you're a huge Disney fan.. it could be worth it.
Let's be nothing. I heard it lasts forever.

Sorry I wasn't clearer. By "exclusives" I meant the DMC Exclusive DVDs- like they had Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken, and Duck Tales Treasures of the Lost Lamp when they weren't available in stores. They have now changed the wording to "Premieres" meaning we get them months before stores do, rather than stores not getting them at all.
