Chicken Little DVD - where to put on shelf?

OK.....since it seems a lot of people are into dividing their DVDs up into categories, like I do.....

Where are we putting Chicken Little. Is this considered an Animated Classic? Are we putting it next to Home on the Range!?
Or are you putting it in your "other" section!?

I guess putting it with the animated films makes the most sence!?! It just doesn't seem right to have it up there with the classics!!!???

Any thoughts!?

Early on, I think Chicken Little may have been intended to be animated classic number 45. But if you read Dave Smith's latest supplement to his book Disney A to Z, you'll find no evidence that Chicken Little belongs on the numbered list:

(Look up the new entry for Chicken Little, and the revised entry for Animated Features under Additions and Changes.)

So clearly, it does not go next to Home on the Range since it's not an animated classic. On my own shelf, I have a section for computer animated features. I intend to put Chicken Little there, with the Pixar films and Dinosaur.

I would put it next to Dinosaur, as it is disneys second CGI film...

There are two options, both of which have been already mentioned.

1. After Home on the Range(where I would put it(
2. Beside Dinousaur.

Certainly not beside Pixar.

Well I won't put it on my shelf as I won't buy it right now. I'll wait til the price become ridiculously low, the true worth of this so called Classic...

Due to its unconfirmed status, I'm going have it placed at a 42.5 degree angle away from Home on the Range, and a distance no less than 2.4 inches away from Dinosaur (Collector's Edition) (but certainly no more than 5 inches).

Or failing that, it will be piled up on the floor next to my armchair.

Well here in the UK on some of the trailers it has been labelled with the same "Walt Disney Classics" logo that the previous 44 have, so I would presume it will be #45

the 44 traditionally animated classics were all done by WDFA, so is Chicken Little. Obviously it should be placed after Home on the Range.

The way I see it is that this was made by Walt Disney Feature Animation just like all the other "classics." For this reason, I am counting it as number 45 and placing it right next to "Home on the Range."

Well I have no room for it in my Disney Movie Club shelves, I have two together they hold 40 dvds, Snow White takes up two spots so thats 39. Theres 44 animated classics, so I had to put the package features somewhere eles.

I'll put Chicken Little by it self next to Dinosaur, Vailant and sometime later this year The Wild. Which are next to the Pixar movies, right before my Dreamworks dvds starts. I'll add Meet The Robinsons, American Dog and Rapunel as soon as their released on dvd. But then again I'll probably move both Fantasias next to the package features and let Chicken Little and Meet the Robinsons chill on the DMC shelves for a while. But I'm getting way ahead of myself.

I will put it next to HOTR not next to Dinosuar. Dinosaur was NOT a CGI movie!!! (at least not like CL) it also had some traditional hand drawn. Ihave both Dinosuar and Valiant and they go next to each other since they don't "fit" in. I will put the next new ones,(the wild, ect.) after those but what are we going to do when Robinsons, Dog, & Rapunzel come out? Have another discussion? it depends on WHO MADE THEM of course!

If they were made by WDFA then they deserve to be put with the 44 originals.

Exactly. CGI has replaced hand drawn animation, and is not being made in addition to it. Dinosaur and Valiant were "extra" movies, made by different people, and Chicken Little doesn't fit with that group. Now, it's not an Animated Classic either (and it won't ever be a classic to any degree), but it seems to me that that is the most logical place for it to go. Of course, that's assuming that I buy it, which I'm still debating...

True, but since Disney has acquired Pixar, it's very likely that Disney will consolidate all its computer animation resources. In a couple of years there will no longer be a distinction between Disney movies and Pixar movies. That's why it's only logical to group all computer animation by Disney, including Pixar, together on the same shelf.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the new management will resurrect hand drawn animation so that we'll ultimately see a real Animated Classic number 45 in a few years.

I'll have no problem changing my mind in the unlikely event that Disney should decide to officially award Chicken Little the Animated Classic number 45.

Now Valiant is a completely different act. It's not by any means produced by Disney. It's only distributed by Disney in some parts of the world (not where I live). I won't even buy it, so I will have no problems with its placement.

If it ever steps into my room, I'll probably hide it out of the shame...

But hey, since that wasn't the question, I'd guess I'd start a new Disney CG line. This isn't a classic to me, but at the end of the day it's your call, so...

I will be putting it next to Home On The Range, just because the animation is different doesnt mean its not a classic
