The Muppet Show: Season 2

Yesterday we passed along info from our good friends at The Digital Bits which said that <i>The Muppet Show - Season Two</i> was "on hold" for now, and speculated that "<i>it's quite possible that it's simply taking longer to assemble the release's episodes and extras this time around</i>".

Later in the day, we got e-mails from various of our readers, including Greg James from MuppetCentral.com and the Muppet NewsFlash blog, pointing us toward Greg's Muppet NewsFlash post stating that "<i>The Muppet Show: Season 2</i> (is) Expected on DVD this Summer". This post is actually a few days old (2/7), and it assures us that the second season set really is on the way. Greg summed it up nicely in his e-mail to us:

I talked with Disney a lot over the past week about the fate of The Muppet Show season 2. They told me that the set was originally planned for release in February, but was bumped to "Summer 2006" due to the extra time needed to clear all the musical rights, compile the bonus features, restore the episodes, and compile the overall DVD set. This product is simply taking longer to produce than Disney first expected. But it is coming, and should be ready for this summer, if all goes as planned. Disney regretted having to bump the title and delay release, but they wanted to keep the quality up to fans' expectations. The season 2 set is coming as quickly as possible, and they are shooting for a summer release.
