Platinums?
Hi I'm new here.
Could anyone tell me the platinums DVD. Is Sleeping Beauty incuded. What about the Fantasia Anthology. Is Alice in Wonderland gonna be a platinum?
Thanks!
That's a rather <a href="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/FAQ.htm">frequently-asked question</a>.
Alice is definitely not part of the collection, but Disney apparently WILL be adding Fantasia, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, and Sleeping Beauty after they're all done with the original 10 platinums in 2007.

Well, at this point, I'm not sure why you'd only want "the Platinums" because Disney isn't even playing up the "Platinum" name anymore, and they've shown they can put together Platinum-esque sets under the "Special Edition" label - like Sleeping Beauty and next January's Alice and other "Masterpiece Editions."
Fantasia Anthology is part of the "Collector's Edition" line, which pretty much died with Atlantis, although I'd classify the Pixar sets like Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo under this, too.
They're pretty much the same thing as Platinum with a different name and irregular release pattern. Those are:
<u>Pixar</u>
A Bug's Life: Collector's Edition
Toy Story & Toy Story 2: The Ultimate Toy Box
Monsters, Inc.
Finding Nemo
<u>Disney</u>
Tarzan CE
Atlantis CE
Dinosaur CE
Fantasia & Fantasia 2000: The Fantasia Anthology
The Emperor's New Groove CE
I think that's all.
No one really knows what's definitely happening with the Platinum line, even Disney, but it would appear that the line will include just the 14 classics that are in it now on both the DVD and HD-DVD format that's down the road.
If you limit yourself to them, you may wind up missing on some great multi-disc sets in favor of lightweight fluff like what was on The Lion King DVD, though.
