That's So Raven is an embarassment.

Post by DDMAN26 »

First of all as a 31 year old male, I realize that I'm not the audience for this show. But in the past I did enjoy and to a degree still do, Even Stevens, Lizzie McGuire and Phil of the Future. And I think that Kim Possible was the best thing on the Disney Channel for years. But after catching a few episodes of Raven the other day I was just embarrased. None of the actors are any good on this show. I think Raven Simone has some talent but I don't see any evidence of it here. The kid who plays her brother is awful. Rondell Simon(?) who plays the dad never makes me laugh. Again maybe I'm losing my sense of humor with age, but I hope not.

So why is it the most popular show on Disney right now? And why did they renew it for more seasons than any other Disney Channel show? I don't think it's fair to say it's that bad if it has a huge fan base... :)

I don't begrudge anyone for liking the show. If people like the show fine. MY opinion of the show is that it's embarassing to watch. Besides just because something is popular doesn't make it good.

I agree 100% with you. That's So Raven used to be good, but now it's just I don't know what. It's for a few good laughs but the plot is just, dumb. I think it would've been better just to stick with the original amount of episodes.

My only complaint is that Chelsea is getting dumber every episode. And its a shame because I feel she's a good actress who deserves better. The only dumb thing she did that I thought was funny was the Apprentice spoof episode and she made "Thinking Caps" and put them on and would get a thought, lol, I dunno why though.

I wish Disney would stop trying to copy Nickelodeon and get back to being Disney! Enough stupid sitcoms! The ol' Disney Channel used to have lots of smart shows on!

I'm hardly a fan, and I think the show is full of a bunch of over-actors (namely, her friends - altho the girl is pretty funny), but I think the show suceeds mostly because of Raven, who, for someone her age, has pretty much always had excellent comic timing.

I don't think That's So Raven is funny at all. It's just a clown show and makes teenagers and teachers look like losers.

Not one of my favorite Disney shows.
When I surf the tv and see Raven is on I turn it right away to any other channel.

As a viewer in the age range from That's So Raven (14) I truly find this show funny. I haven't seen all the episodes, probably only a half or third, but from one I have seen it is very humerous.
Wants Muppet Babies on DVD!!
Hopefully if Duckales and Rescue Rangers sell well we will get it!! Don't forget Gummi Bears!

I enjoy most episodes of That's So Raven. The Christmas episode was very moving and the episode where Raven and her brother provided two quite different accounts of Raven's time in his classroom was hilarious. The shows can vary but once you get to know the characters you will find it more enjoyable.

That's a terrible thing to write about anyone. The premise of this thread is thoughts on the quality of the show That's so Raven. It is not about the actors that star in the show and what you think about them personally. Your input does not further this discussion in any way.

The Disney Channel should be all about animation and less live-action. I'm not fond of the channel's live action crap.

Well, the earlier episodes were good, and the only one recently that I had a good chuckle at was infact, the one where Raven and Cory tell biased sides of Raven teaching Cory's class, and that had it's cringe-worthy moments. Raven is what often saves the show, because she's funny, and Annelisa Van der Pol (sp?) is also funny when the material is not stupid. But, Kyle Massey, Rondel Sheridan, and Orlando Brown are very unfunny, and their jokes are always overly played-up. My favorite Disney Channel show of all time is Even Stevens, and I wish Disney aired it as much as even Lizzie McGuire. At least, we have a Disney Channel savior in The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, which I find very funny. Let's just hope The Suite Life doesn't follow pattern and decrease in quality as it gets into later seasons.

That's why there's Toon Disney, but I guess there's even live action shows there

I don't know. I look at some old sit-coms I enjoyed as a child, and they're an embarassment to me now. It's hard, because a successful sit-com is a product of it's time. It's hard enough to do a "normal" sit-com and make it a success without factoring it the fact that Raven is aimed at children (tweens).

That said, the few episodes I have seen are complete trash, IMOHO :D
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

I agree with whoever said that the popularity of something is completely unrelated to how good it may or may not be. Look at reality TV as an example; utter trash, yet people guzzle it down in endless quantities. Having watched 2 or 3 episodes of Raven personally, I think I can say with fair certainty that it is indeed utter crap.

That's so raven is the only thing I really like now that Lizzie and even stevens is over and all the cartoons are crappy so I'm glad disney doesn't only play cartoons like "Kim Possible and Buzz on maggie" and as much as I like Emperors new groove I HATE the new cartoon tv show.

BTW does anyone know when the lizzie mcguire Spin-off is gonna premere??????
