Tony - I got the exact same email as you and saw the same thing; however when I checked the Amazon page for this title they had not yet updated it with the new shipping date. I am very very hopeful though, we've all been waiting for such a long time.
Well, it is now past Amazon's "Shipping estimate: December 27, 2005 - January 3, 2006" for this DVD to be sent to me....

ohmahaaha - I assume the status of your order hasn't changed ?

I don't know why Amazon bothered to send me an email and update my order if they weren't sure of sending the DVD out in the time frame given.

Phantom boats made it all the way until 1958, though after the first year guests were accompanied by a disney CM who drove the boat. And actually I can't remember which bit the dust first: phantom boats or the viewliner.

The book I got at Disneyland said it was closed in 1956, as do other sources. I just double checked, the Viewliner was still in operation, it closed in 1958.

I once ordered the DVD at DVDSoon.com that then went bankrupt. Their customers where told that the shop would be given to another investor and that he would take over the pending orders.

So i kept my Disney DVD order in the account and suddendly, today, the following e-mail reached me:

--------------------------------

Dear Mr. Sebastian Gruenwald,

Your order 2032472 is presently ready to ship and we have processed a
credit card transaction for the value of your order. Your order will be
shipped in 24 to 72h and at that time, you will receive a notification.

--------------------------------

At the same time, my status switched from pending to packaging:

I'm really curious of what happens now. I personally don't think that they really have the DVD in stock. There have been a lot of irregularities under the old DVDSoon staff last year so i'm not sure whether the new crew (seems to be the same group as dvdimport.com) handles every order correct. Another strange thing is that the DVD isn't even listed in the catalog there anymore.

But i keep telling you, if something is really reaching me in the next few weeks (living in Germany)... :)

Welcome to the forum, gast! :eye: DO be sure to tell us if you actually wind up with this DVD. It sounds about the coolest thing ever (especially having visited Disneyland now) and if you're lucky enough to get one, you'd have a truly amazing collector's item on your hands! It absolutely sucks that we haven't heard anything new on this disc more than six months later, but the fact that Amazon is still taking orders gives me some hope that it will eventually come.

You would think that they'd want to get this out. After all the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland has already passed!

Technically, the celebrations run all throughout this year as well. Disney's definition of when a anniversary falls - as is evident by the Lady the Tramp dating - is loose at best.

For the record, my Amazon sale remains as unmoved as a compacted bowel.

Okay... my status changed from "Packaging" zu "Shipping".

Now, let's see if i really get my DVD. I personally don't think so as i don't know any other shop that would have it available. But i keep posting if anything changes. :-)

Well strangely DVDSoon don't actually have this title listed, if you search for it, you'll see it's nowhere to be found.

I think it will be interesting to see what happens.

Yes, i said above that there were many irregularities with Soon in the last few months until they were overtaken by another investor (most likley the crew from dvdimport.com). The DVD was removed from their catalogue but the new staff told me that they will fullfill the pending orders in my account, if i wished to.

Let's see what happens. After all what i heared from other Soon customers, i'm not sure if they had really sent out the DVD or just needed some reason to debit my credit card.

Oh yes I know, I am well aware of the problems DVDSoon have had, i too was birch slapped by them when they had their "issues" and I too have also been told that they would be willing to fulfil all pending orders, but it is just a big con to debit our cards, i have been debited for a DVD i have already paid for once, before they decided in their infinte wisdom to delete everyone's store credit.

Maybe there's some sort of legal issue with something in the DVD and Disney is still trying to work it out. All these places might actually have the DVD but can't send them out yet. That's what I would think is happening if our friend actually gets this DVD.

I hope they are making this DVD like a 3 Disc set or something!! Or even better, have a disc for each area of Disneyland (Toontown, Fronteirland, Tomarowland etc.), and have the HISTORY about the area!!! Look, we waited so long for this DVD, still not knowing a set date for it, or even if it's ever coming out!! I hope we can get some answers by next month. I think, it's good that they delayed this DVD, becuase you can't have 1 Disc of DISNEYLAND!! Disneyland is were dreams come ture, it's were you go when you WIN the SUPERBOWL, it's where you go to have fun. I truly hope they are coming with something VERY special for this DVD, and at the end it was REALLY worth the wait!!!

I really must say that I am dumbfounded about Disney with their release schedule at times .... remember they had Dr. Syn on the schedule supposedly a couple of summers ago, wasn't it? Then it got pulled for "future release" and for whatever reason has been in limbo ever since. That's what has me worried about the "Disneyland" DVD - first things first, I'd just like to know WILL we see this DVD or WON'T we see this DVD? I feel ridiculous having this still-open order on Amazon. It would help if we could at least know WHY it is being delayed.

I absolutely LOVE this idea... it would be great to have a box set with 1 disc or even half a disc dedicated to each land at Disneyland... It would be fantastic to have the history of each attraction and extinct attractions in the land.. All the info they can possibly find from old videotape to Disneyland TV shows would be a dream come true !!

I'd love to hear an update on gast's situation. I'm guessing from the lack of replies, he either didn't get it or is so entrenched in the wonder of it that he can't even summon the words to describe it!

Maybe he was just making it up. It's hard to tell if he's sincere since he's such a new member.
