Is it worth it to buy The Pink Panther Collection?

Post by Evil Genie Jafar »

I'm talking about the animated collection.

I've recently started to watch these cartoons again in Boomerang and I was surprised to see how funny they are.

And after looking at the collection that's going to be released I really got excited about it: 5 discs, 797 minutes and nice extras.

Is it worth to get this collection? I mean if you had this set, would you watch it often?

I also am interested in buying this set. Any clue what price tag we're looking at for the whole thing?

I recently bought the entire Yogi Bear collection, and am glad I did because we don't get Boomerang...and this gave my kids an opportunity to see some of the cartoons I grew up with.

for five disks that seems like a pretty good bargain.

i'll probably just put a disk or two on my netflix queue, though. i remember the show being cool but i don't think i'd need 800 minutes of it...

Even though I very tempted to buy it, I am trying to stay for this type of purchase. I like the Pink Panthers but don't love them. In the past, I would let the rationalizing of less than $.50/toon lead me to purchase, now I need to just buy the great stuff that will want to again.

Nevertheless, it is a good deal because for the cost of Looney Tune set or two Treasures you get twice as many cartoons.

The collection is also going to be released on individual single discs, though only the first three discs will be done that way. The other two discs are considered bonuses for buying the box set. $39.99 seems to be a fair price for the 5-disc box set, and yeah, I will watch them with regularity. The Panther rocks!!!!

I don't know if I could afford The Pink Panther Collection since I prefer The A-Team, Knight Rider and Magnum, P.I. for that day.
Maybe I'll get The Pink Pather Collection on Columbia House if they have it.

Cartoon Network is doing a two hour block of Pink Panther...I believe this Sunday morning at 6am. (Sorry, with TiVo I don't pay too much attention to actual times)
I'm just going to record the show off CN on to DVD!

With all the commercials edited out you will be left with about an hour and twenty minutes of cartoons and that is hardly very many of the Panther's best. Get the box set, it is going to be a very good addition to anyone's collection.

IGN has a review of the set. It's what I've come to expect from animated short DVD releases: good cartoons, meh-ish audio/video quality, and very good extras.

Whether the set is good or bad, I'm thinking of getting it anyway. That theme song is too addictive to not be in my DVD collection!
