Kingdom Hearts page on the site?

Post by Evil Genie Jafar »

Hi

I know I've suggested once to have a special place for Disney videogames and was told not to.

But this case is different. KH has become one (if not the most) important Disney videogame series of all time.

1. they have team up with Squaresoft (Final Fantasy fame) to make an incredible game with and engaging story; sharing characters of both universes.

2. in the game we travel to most of the Disney movies' worlds. As so, we meet, play and fight with an enormous quantity of Disney characters.

3. Disney has made sure to bring back most of the original actors to provide their voices to ther characters and bring new ones to resemble the voices of the old ones.

4. The games have been a hit worldwide.

5. They're just 2 games so far, and the one that's about to be released. So it wll be easy enough to have a special place in the site for them.

6.... AND, it has obviously become a saga so we're not talking about regular games.

So, what do you think?

I don't think it would be of much use. I mean, we already have a thread for Kingdom Hearts, and that gets a post probably once every other day. I don't think we have enough fans of the series on UD to get a whole forum dedicated to it.

I do love posting in that thread, though.

I don't mean a whole new forum.

I mean just a space in the site; the same way we have here for the DVD movie reviews.

And, now that you mention it...a post it in Off-Topic.

Oh, I misunderstood. Sorry about that; I thought you were suggesting that a whole new forum be added. My bad.

A couple of pages sounds like a good idea. We can have one for general information and another page for reviews and links.

For now, everyone can talk about Kingdom Hearts in the big thread: http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... php?t=9676

You're welcome to start as many Kingdom Hearts threads as you think it merits. I doubt that most topics are specific enough to warrant threads of their own. I've always believed in keeping the number of forums to a minimum so as to ensure that each is relatively active. However, it sounds like you're not asking for a dedicated forum, but a part of the website. Generally, all parts of the website begin and end with me. I must confess I don't have enough time to devote to such a project - I still have three DVDs from December I haven't yet reviewed, a year-in-review to compose, and a final two parts of the Disneyland report, not to mention all the forthcoming DVDs that come out and regular day-to-day duties (overseeing the forum, passing on news of interest, following up on leads, etc.). If there was some kind of entirely-formatted page on the game that was going to be submitted and all that it needed was my approval, I'd be fine with that. But the case is more likely that something needs my editing (if it's going to be linked through the main site) and formatting, and I just don't have time for that. If you could be more specific with your request and let me know how much input you'd need from me, I'd be more likely to consider this, but otherwise, I'd have to say the existing threads on the game(s) are sufficient. I'm not sure if what I've rambled on about has made any sense, but hopefully it has and it seems reasonable.

Well, I'm sure we can work things out.

I mean, this won't be something that needs constant work on it. As I said, there are 2 games so far , so the spot dedicated to the games in the site would work as a regular Disney DVD review.

I think somehing in this line:

1. A review for both games
2. News regarding to the sales and everything regarding these games (and since they're old these news don't have to be updated. Just find them and place them there).
3. Kind of a board where we can place like a guide to the games.

4. News for the next sequel in the game.

I'm pretty sure that Pasta67 (if interested) and me can work this out. Luke, you will only need to check everything when we have it done and put it on the site. Then Pasta67 and me can work together in the active part of the spot (Kingdom Hearts 2).

So, what do you guys think?

I'd be more than happy to contribute any information you might need. I'm not really sure where the KH pages would go on UD, since there are really only DVD reviews, if you don't count the interviews and other stuff like that, but if you want to do it and Luke thinks it would be a good addition, then I'd be happy to help.

*ahem* and complete listings of movies/shows, CD reviews, countdowns, press releases, theatrical release previews, the odd standalone article, a shop, etc., etc. ;) :P

But anyway, I must agree with your primary point that it doesn't really fit in with what we currently have, but there's always room for growth, as long as the site reponsibilities don't become TOO burdensome.

Thank you for the interest Pasta67.

Well Luke as you must have read before there's nothing you'd have to do besides to check the whole thing once it's done and upload it to the site.

The KH2 that has to keep being updated, we'll work on that ourselves... and it won't be something that requires that much work either. Since it'll probably be updated once every so often there's something new to say.

Plus, it is just these games becuase of their importance. No other game will be included.

Gah! I knew that if I posted that message, I'd get that responce eventually.

But you were right, the point I was trying to make was that it would stand out a little.

Sorry to butt into your thread here, but I just wanted to add that when Kingdom Hearts 2 comes out, I would definitely like a link to Best Buy posted somewhere so I can contribute to the site.

This may have been discussed elsewhere already, and if it has - I'm sorry.

The UD affiliate link to Best Buy appears in the last row of the text links at the top right of the forum. It's second from the left. While it takes you directly to BB's Disney store, anything you buy within that session should credit the site.

Of course, if you don't intend to wait to pick it up in stores, here's a direct link to preorder the game, made just for you:

Thanks - that info is good to know...I didn't even know Best Buy had a Disney section on their website.

I just used the link you provided to pre-order the game. Thanks!

I've been a bit frustrated lately. I'm normally a die-hard Amazon.com shopper, and since November I've been unable to access their website at work. The webpage starts to open, and it never finishes.... it's so frustrating! It works fine for me at home, but I'm too busy to go online much at all at home (5 kids). I've tried clearing my temporary internet files and cookies at work, but had no success. Any suggestions????

By the way (back on topic) my sons love Kingdom Hearts. I would love to play it too, but I just am way too busy to be able to invest that kind of time. Maybe someday... (sigh). I like the idea of making Kingdom Hearts a permanent part of the website.

Not sure, but it sounds like it might either be something to do with a firewall or an adminstrative restriction on the site. I'd tend to think the latter is more likely. If it's nothing something you'd want to take up with a superior, perhaps you could try downloading/using Firefox to access it?
