I just got a thing in the mail today for Disney Movie Club....it says "Get 3 FREE Disney dvds, and order 5 more over the next 2 years....sounds good, and it came with free stickers! :P

But, it also says something on how you'll automatically be sent the "featured title of the month", unless you cancel it right away.....I don't like that! Can anyone (who's a member) let me know about this?

Also, are these dvds legit, and do the ones with slipcovers come with them? Thanks. Oh yea, and will things like the Aladdin collectors gift set be available for purchase with the club? Thanks :)

oh yea, I also wanted to mention that I was looking at their website, and how come some movies (like Treasure Planet and Pocahontas) seem to have widescreen dvds AND normal dvds?????

Kelly, to answer your questions:

"Featured Title" is a bit of a pain, just like it is with Columbia House. But they do e-mail you with the new selection to decline and there's always a number of weeks to respond.

I don't believe they offered the Lion King Gift Set through the DMC, so I'd guess that Aladdin's wont be either.

I don't see multiple listings for Pocahontas or Treasure Planet, but the DMC doesn't offer any exclusive DVDs really anymore. For a while, Tower of Terror and Walt: The Man Behind the Myth were, but they're general releases now. They do offer a set of past Walt Disney Treasures, which are just about impossible to find elsewhere online or in stores.

Not sure about the slipcovers, but lately they've been offering special 3-D collector's cards the size of the cases with their Monthly Featured Selections like Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lion King 1 ½, and Finding Nemo. There are other threads here on those that you might want to check out.

If you decide to join, please use our link, as it gives $5 to the site:

I am finally ready to join and I remember looking at it before and there where lots of titles to choose from as your free movie. When I click on the link now, There is a pretty limited selection and I have all of the DVD's that I want out of it. How to I get a bigger selection of movies?

I also got that same thing, I was a member before and fulfilled the commitment but then my mom deleted my account with DMC because she said I was spending to much money with them. But I am going to join again. It is the best club their is.

Disneykid wrote:If you change the Promo Code in the resulting address from 50300 to 616170, you'll get $1 shipping and only have to buy 4 more to fulfill requirement if you take a 5th title for $14.95. You can also get a 6th for $9.95.
Apparently this code still works. 4 DVDs for a total of only $1. However you still have to buy 5 titles, but you can get a bonus for $14.95 which WILL cound toward the limit.

Any other new codes??

n69n: I just checked to see if the 616170 code still worked for the 4 FREE and it does. I'd say that it probably won't get better than that and you should sign up now!! Who knows how long it will take to change everything over to Blu-Ray. It depends on how long you want to wait. Also, from the blu- ray site:

"Will Blu-ray support playback of DVDs?

Yes, several leading consumer electronics companies (including Sony, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung and LG) have already demonstrated products that can read/write CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs using a BD/DVD/CD compatible optical head, so you don't have to worry about your existing DVD collection becoming obsolete. Although it's up to each manufacturer to decide if they want to make their products backwards compatible with DVD, the format is far too popular to not be supported. The Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) expects every Blu-ray Disc device to be backward compatible with CDs and DVDs."

I'd say sign up now- it's not like the DVDs will become obsolete and who knows how long it will take for them to make ALL of the Disney DVDs into Blu-rays and how long it would take to make the DMC all blu-ray.

Click on the link on this website and then put in the promotional code.

Enjoy!

It's been 6 months since the last post, so I just checked to see if the 616170 code still worked for the 4 FREE and it still does.

It says how it works earlier on in the thread.

When you SIGN UP initially you get 4 free w/ the option to buy 1 at $14.95 to fullfill a commitment and another at $9.95. This is instead of not using a code and getting 3 for $1.99 each with the opportunity to get one at $14.95 and another at $9.95.

This doesn't work for someone who is already a member, it's just a sign on deal.

Do you have to have a credit card to be a member? Also, do you have to be 18 to join?

No, you don't need a credit card. You can always pay with check or money order.. but you'll have to mail your payment in with the order form.

And yes, you must be at least 18 to join.

Well they only have region 1 DVD's so you wouldn't want to sign up anyway.
