Timing of new releases ???

Post by bejr »

Does anyone know when Lion King can be purchase as part of the Disney DVD Club introductory offer? I don't see it offered online as an option.

Is there a general rule for the length of time between re-releasing a DVD to retail stores and offering it through the club?

Thanks!

No, there's not really a general rule. The less recognized the title is, the quicker it tends to be available from the club, so small catalogue releases can show up immediately after or even before release.

Something like Monsters Inc or Lilo & Stitch has generally taken several months before turning up into the Club, but they're not offering Sleeping Beauty, so Lion King should be no more than a month away, I'd think. But it will almost certainly be $21.95 regular price.

About how long to re-releases remain purchaseable in the club? (ie. When would Disney take Lion King out of the the club offerings again and put it in "the vault" again?)

I would imagine that Vault titles will be pulled when they are officially placed in the Vault. IMO, makes no sense to pull them before then. And to echo Luke's sentiments as to the apperance of The Lion King through the club, I would not be surprised in the least to see it show up in the November mailer as the Selection-of-the-Month.

Yep, those two titles are OOP, but are they vaulted? I don't think they are valuted.
