New Pet Cemetery Resident at WDW

Post by Disney Princess Ariellen »

While my parents were visting WDW last week, we rode The Haunted Mansion, and afterwards, tried to get some pictures of the Mansion for my brother, who loves the ride.

I decided to get a good look at the pet cemetery, which I hadn't really done in a while. I stood on a bench in hopes of getting better pictures, and while I was scanning the scene, I noticed a familiar face in the back left of the pet cemetery...a one Mr. J. Thaddeus Toad from The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad and the site I'm sure this gag is referring to, the now-extinct-at-WDW Fantasyland attraction, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.

There are no birth/death dates, no plaque with a name, no poem, or anything; the headstone is just a statue of Toad.

I don't have the cable to transfer my pictures from my camera to my computer with me, but I did find pictures at this address:

Lol!! Oh my gosh, that's awesome!! I think its just a prop piece of the old attraction that they stuck in the pet cementary to pay homage to the attraction. That's freaking awesome tho that Disney puts these things in the attractions. I know in Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, they have a portrait of Mr. Toad giving the deed to the attraction to Owl.

Hehehe this is funny. Hopefully the Imagineers or someone will actually make it:

Anyone know what dates to put for Mr. Toad? month, day, 1971 - month, day 1999?

Thanx for posting, Princess Ariellen! I will definitely look out for that next we go to WDW!

There's one of Pooh with Toad's friend Moley in there, too. :) I think it's in the same scene; I'll need to ride Pooh again to see. :)

You're welcome! And to answer your question, I think the dates would be October 1, 1971 (MK's opening) - September 7, 1997 or 1998. I know Toad rode for the last time on Labor Day; I forget if it was one or two years before the Pooh ride opened in 1999.
